That would be the odd part. I started the mission when I shot him down unceremoniously without being provoked before.
You dirty pirate, you didn't.
According to Personalities you are supposed to be an angel. My "weltanschauung" has changed forever. :D

Ok, so I have upgraded Vector, but what happens now.
I was in the middle of the mission, or at least it was ongoing. I was visiting Arn's girlfriend in some system, and in version 1.4.4 nothing happened when I got there. After 1.5 clean-up of the save file, it no longer says on the f5 screen that I should visit the gf for more information. It's like the mission never started.

I do suspect that i triggered the mission in an odd way. Arn actually took a shot at me, I shot down his vector and then scooped his escape pod. When I then got to the station the whole thing started.
No no. Everything is fine.

I should have been more clear about this point - apologies for that. The script resets the variables and removes ALL old variables from Localhero AND the mission related variables and EQs from Vector. Then it marks the savedgame, so it won't pop up again - the coming stuff will need some kind of version control.

This means that players have to redo the mission, but by redoing the mission you'll see why.

It was no easy decision, but the goal is to prepare players for the coming packs and you will need the tools from that mission to successfully complete some of the coming things. Another important point is that I really need the feedback for the current tools, because they are somewhat different and all packs will use them too.

Hehe, poor Arn. If you'd have waited a little bit longer than you would have seen what Gimi has seen. He's a nervous guy and specially with police nearby it can be tricky soemtimes...

No worries, I was actually already considering starting over for other reasons. I have messed up some other stuff. You have saved me cleaning out the save game myself. (Would probably have made a mess of it anyway.)

TY :D

Wot?

According to personalities I'm supposed to be a privateer (which is not exactly the same as an angel). I am polite, however:

Hehe, poor Arn.
Why poor? He actually thanked me for rescuing him, after I had crushed his escorts, shot his ship off his arse and scooped up the dumb buffoon. It was really love at first sight.

Oh OK. I didn't check. Just that I have never seen you as anything but clean.

Hehe. All successful pirates are clean. Only morons commit their crimes while the cops are watching. 8)

For that matter: all personalities ships are clean (except Hesperus, he's simply too notorious). Some are simple traders, some are bounty hunters, and some are privateers. You can't know who is who from the outside. But the privateers may attack clean traders (including yourself). (I can't guarantee the underlying mechanism to fully work in 1.75, or even 1.74, though.)

Seems like business as usual to me. (I've yet to do the Vector mission. Is the gf hawt?)

Even Winston!

I have to have a look into the workings of Personalities.
Also, I have to admit that sometimes, while hunting pirates I find ships that seem suspicious (I suspect the pilot has ejected to hide his crimes), and further inspection is required. I'm not always right.

And the gf... don't even think about it. But you'll meet her again, someday... Then we'll see...

There is something I noticed about Vector.oxp and wanted to ask for a long time:

Every once in a while I'm spotting and hunting a Vector in order to get his special cargo. However, it seems that the Vector itself is rarely carrying any special cargo. What happens is this: I take a shot at the Vector, and more or less immediately one of its escorts is dropping a special cargopod. Is this intended behaviour?

Nope. Funny - never seen it, but maybe it has something to do with the coordinatesForEscortPosition. I'm using it in some Test-OXPs and sometimes if a ship starts throwing sparks the sparks are mirrored to another location. I don't know what the trigger is and it's not easy to reproduce, but it happens. The Vector itself doesn't declare positions for its escorts.

I've tried it a few times and it was always the Vector that ejects the pods... hmm.

It's possible that I've seen it wrong, or perhaps I misremember. Perhaps it was the other way round, and it was the Vector ejecting a pod when I first fired at one of its escorts? I do remember that it puzzled me that the pod was ejected by another ship than the one which was actually hit.

Yep. The mother reacts if a escort is attacked, but maybe it's too easy this way. I'll change a few things for the next version...

For the other thing - I'll keep an eye on it .-) Thanks CMcL.
