oh lord, i had all that w/ my fx5700, scoured all over the fricking dev sites/forums. tried multi different drivers but i think in the end my prob stemmed from the mobo not liking it. one bit of advice i got was that if you're using the current drivers and it don't like them, go back a couple of levels and use a stable earlier version - the latest versions sometimes have bleb in them.

i *think* i'm running about v82 or summat, i'll look when i get in.
has this just started, or is the card new??

@Doc - I've had XP for almost 2yrs now - its the first time its ever gone wrong - its like a well behaved dog thats suddenly pooed on the carpet - I feel somewhat betrayed!
If I get my PC up and running anytime soon I'll continue to work on the cargo issue too (LBs stuff's be useful I've just not had chance to fully test it...
). I'm sure by PMing and liasing on here we can work it out between us. (I hope so I have plans for the L-crate Hauler big plans....)
How may ads are you short for YAW2 (I've got a couple more as ideas that I could finish off in my lunch hour at work (where I am and what I'm doing now))
PS I was working on a mod of the texture for the inside of the docking port of the Tescoo Oxpress as I don't really think they'd be advertising Hourly Auctions of Cons - but if you want to do something "more appropriate" then that would be fine too!
I'm running 1024x768 as screen res - I just accepted that your HUD was the way it was - I like it so it didn't matter (my missus who uses the PC for working at home when I'm here and she's not commuting doesn't like 1280x1024 as she thinks the text is too small for the work she does and she doesn't like "faffing"...)

@KW - the machine has been really stable for well over a year - I recently tried to upgrade from my faithful 128MB FX5600 to a 256MB FX5700 and the same time as going from an XP 2500+ to an XP 2800+, my mobo spat out the 5700 - just hated it - but the proc seemed fine. So I put back in my FX5600, went back to a restore point where the FX5600 was a-ok and all was well for about two weeks but it blanked out 3 nights ago and has been really iffy since then (and yet tonight no crashes - go figure!) Shame I'm going away for the weekend else else I'd hopefully finish the TBC oxp.
BTW, like your Vampire stuff - good job.
Oh and whereabouts in Geordieland are you from - my family are "Sand Dancers" through and through and a lot of them still live in South Shields - I'll be close to home this weekend (Hartlepool) where my better half's sister is having her little one christened.

Because of the way that models work internally atm it doesn't put any extra strain on the hardware even if you did separate docks for each individual Tescoo station since the game loads every possible model from all shipdatas into memory at start-up as you probably remember. Between 1.0 and 1.01 of Your Ad Here it went from 48 variants of the Pi-42 (no sleep the night that shipdata.plist was made) to 6. I may go for ten in total for Your Ad Here 1 & 2 - or v.2 if the two are merged instead (half Tescoos and Pi-42s). I've also considered to redo the docks so they would just have two ads in them instead of 6 bringing each station's total of textures used from 6 to 4.
You're of course welcome to pm any ideas you have.
There's still more than 10 ad spaces left.

@Doc - didn't get chance for more ads but I will!
Tweeked inside of dock for Tescoo_Oxpress but machine flaked out the second I tried to run Oolite to test - tried some other games on each reboot (OpenGL ones first - then DX9 ones) all flake and crash the machine - vid driver is extremely not happy! Oh, well it's getting late and I've got a 300mile/500km drive tomorrow starting at 6am...

bah, vid crashes suck. the probs can be absolutely anything.
the things i would try are;-
- check your event logs, see if anything useful is noted re the crash
- restore the vid drivers. follow the whole malarkey about fully removing the old ones first, i dunno if going back to a restore point has implications.
- check the dxdiag wotsit, that's run through and tell you if any files are buggered up, you might need a reload/restore of the dx (suck it!!) files.
- do you need to mess about in your bios to tell it about the 256 card size etc?
- i always here it said "don't upgrade more than one thing at once", it's a bugger to track down probs if nowt else. might be worth going back to the old processor too? see if it runs in the old config?
ta re the Vampires
i come from Newcastle, westerhope way.

@KW - At in-laws place - forgot they had a PC!
Can't go back to old 2500 proc - I sold it!
I did set the apeture for the AGP port to 256MB when I fitted the 256MB card - not sure I put it back to 128MB when I put the FX5600 back in... hmm, I'll have a look when I get back - it shouldn't make any difference but you never know... I've got an old XP1800+ (266FSB) which I could stick in and leave running hot at 333 which should get me nearer to where I was (should behave as a 2400+). E-mail came through from LeadTek (suprisingly - but they're a good company) with some suggestions about drivers so I will try those too when I get back.

LEadTek - cool. don't ever bother w/ ASUS tech "support". my FX5700 was asus, and my mobo was. might as well've talked to my budgie about the crash problems, least i would've got a response from him.
you'd think a company would have a bit respect for the people supporting their product and stuff...
