I reckon the likes of Charlie Griff Ramon Roberto et al, plus Sez's new found texturing skills, could produce something pretty close.
Damn you guys, I've just dribbled all down my polo

Should the BSG be smoothed or not?

TBH both look damn good!
the smoothy option - what makes some people have bother w/ a very dark texture after they use it?

Smooth the exausts but leave the rest unsmoothed. IMO, the second one looks a bit like if a mad plumber had been playing with pipes and a welding torch...

I'm still working on the Battlestar but wasn't very happy with the old textures.

Impressive!
Always great to see what a bit of clever texturing can add to a model...

Excellent model - looks awesome. How about doing Red Dwarf when you've finished that one?

I once looked at making a 3D version of the Dwarf. It has a staggering amount of surface detail, including a meteor sticking out of it. With all the bubbles, antennae and stuff sticking out it's one hell of a project.
Good luck to anyone who tries it.

@Gareth3377, maybe after a bit more modeling experience, but if Selezen thinks it's going to be a difficult project, I don't think I stand much of chance of doing it justice!

The Dwarf is actually my ultimate goal as a modeller...
