That's very Philip Glass / Terry Riley / Steve Reich. I'll have a listen!

The Orb, anyone?

Yes, more sad news, but sort of fitting that his heart broke.

Gibson, whose electric guitars have been played by stars including Elvis, Keith Richards and Jimmy Page, has filed for bankruptcy protection as it struggles with $500m (£367m) of debt. [ ] Perhaps the most famous of Gibson's guitars has been the Gibson Les Paul.
Gary Moore knew how to play a Les Paul.

A couple of (imho) heavily tangerine dream inspired albums. :D

yeah, i really like those, very tangerine dream, but i also like 80s style synth stuff anyway, like the whole Drive soundtrack. One of my favorites is the 80s latino electronica. Its probably all over the place by now but Astro is a pretty good Chilean band that has a good rythm and pretty good lyrics too. Check out Chicos de la Luz. They talk about everything from blue children, to buddhist philosophy, to Dolphins. And a little bit of chemistry. (the caliente kind) Some people may not get the lyrics, but they are pretty deep for a young band.

So you are quite into the synthwave/outrun style :D There are some very good things.

synthwave yes, but not so much the soundtrack for outrun, too "japanese happy" for me. (reminds me of some of the scenes in FF7 in town). miami sound machine yes. vangelis yes. m83 yes. even some of the tracks from mass effect fit pretty well. x3 soundtrack, quite a few there are pretty epic (even though the story line kinda sucked... er... Kha'ak). hey, i didnt pick the pronunciation, they did.

i dunno, i just always pictured being in space in one of these ships, or something more advanced and having a really nice synth soundtrack in the audiodeck.

i always find it funny that most all sci-fi movies, even the ones that have more orchestral soundtracks, always seem to have a bar scene with synth or techno in there, or some kind of thecno-hop. but how do we know that in other places, like other planets, music like that wont drive other species crazy? or do some species consider it fun to moshpit people with sharp objects? i think we earthers take for granted what the potential disaster of drunk aliens could be. perhaps that could be something to explore in the sci-fi literary sense.

In Babylon 5 I learnt that it's not wise to let a minbari get drunk :D

RIP Ronan O'Rahilly, the founder of Radio Caroline, which was one of the first off-shore pirate radio stations (broadcasting to the east of England in the mid-sixties). Radio Caroline had a huge effect on pop music radio broadcasting in the UK, putting the BBC to shame, and launched the careers of many DJs. I recall those days, as a kid listening on a cheap transistor radio, so well.

In a later incarnation, Radio Caroline used this as their theme music:

On My Way Back Home
