Although that pic has my laptop connected to my pc, I usually have a mini tower connected to use to watch films on stored on the external hard drive .
Heh, I didn't use a monitor in years, too, mostly due to my dual monitor setup :D

Also, sorry, but I cannot vote, I'm not looking into Intel since almost 15 years, now.

Nice system. I am waiting for a review when you get your hands on it. It is close to what i am building.
The PSU will come in handy in the future and more RAM didn't hurt anybody.

PS: I don't thing you will have problem playing Oolite

You'll probably save a little with the Home edition. That's what's on my computer... I'm sure it'll do what you need it to. I never did get Oolite running nicely on it, but then, I never spent much time trying to either ;).

Oolite runs smoothly on both my laptops and my mini desktop. This new machine is more for their likes of Assassins Creed Unity and Elite Dangerous...

I've made another small change, removed the H60 liquid cooling and replaced with CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO instead, as this will be quieter and I'm not planing on overclocking so liquid cooling is not needed. With the money saved I am replacing CPU with an i7 4790k 4.0Ghz.

Can't wait till Friday when I can order... Then just have to wait for it to be built!!!

A worthwhile upgrade, is that - who knows, one fine day you may want to overclock it.

After a series of hassles, my new machine is finally up and running, and on test. I'll install the gfx card later this week.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I may do but I don't like the idea of decreasing it's lifetime. Maybe if it became slow and outdated but then I'd sooner replace it depending on cost.

I've probably asked this before but what spec is your new machine Cody?

Although newly-built, it's mostly last year's spec:
  • Asus Z87-A
    intel i5-4670K @3.4
    Corsair RM750 Gold
    EVGA GTX770 SC ACX 2GB
    16GB (2x8) Corsair Vengeance LP 1600
    WD 1TB
    Fractal Design Arc Midi 2
The mobo was gifted to me by a pirate, and my brother helped finance the GPU (they are both generous souls).

It's great to have a descent computer. I dealt with a Pentium IV until 2012... :).

That spec is more than good enough to run any game current or coming soon. Plus if you built it yourself you'll have more of a sense of accomplishment. I would love to be able to but as I'm not very technical I'd probably break something!

It is surprisingly straightforward to self-build these days - as long as you're careful and thorough. Obviously, it can seem daunting if you've never built one before, and there YT is your friend - oodles of step-by-step vids (sorting the wheat from the chaff takes some time though). Of course, if the dread god Finagle or his mad prophet Murphy decide to get involved, then it may become rather - interesting! Yes, interesting is definitely the word!

In turbo boost mode it clocks at 4.4Ghz. As for O/C all modern CPUs have thermal cutouts for protection. The worst thing that can happen is that you can't boot and in that case you revert to the default settings.
