A slight problem that's coming up is the "i" button, which currently shows the symbols.

I would like the symbols turned on by default and a non-alphanumeric key to turn off.

I think it should be a combination of 1) and 2): pressing the search key, e.g. ctrl-f, would zoom to full galaxy view and display and place the cursor in the search field. If the user aborts the search, e.g. with esc, zoom and positioning go back to where they were before and removing the search field. If the user commences with the search, e.g. pressing enter after keying in the search term, the zoom stays on full galaxy view and the results are highlighted and the search field is removed. Whenever there is no search field, pressing i should show the symbols, whenever there is a search field it should also have the cursor. I think that would not leave any ambiguity for the player about what happens when he presses a key.

The new map is very nice, but I still missing a view where the government symbols are persistent and do not need to press the "i" key so often.

In my dream this key is a switch between the following states:
1. show names of systems only (like in default),
2. show symbols after names (what I missing, like Riedquat iiA4),
3. show symbols only (like when holding down the key now).

Please confirm if you like this idea.

I like the idea, Norby.

I'll have a look at changing this so that "i" switches from names to symbols and back again, instead of having to hold down the "i".

Also, the ANA would probably be better if shift-6 cycled between modes rather than having to hold down shift-ctrl-6 for least time routing.

Seconded! That awkward combination has always irritated me..

Done!

Well, nearly. The ANA in the contracts screen seems to work a bit differently to all the other screens and I couldn't figure out how to change that, so you still have to press CTRL for that one for time optimized routes. But the chart screen should cycle between modes properly.

The contract selection screen already offers the choice of displaying one or the other without having to hold any keys. It was the main navigation screen where this became an issue.

Thanks!

How was the holiday? We've been putting loads of dodgy stuff in the code while your back was turned...

I had a good time, definitely. I'll have to go on holiday more often, I think, if this is the sort of thing I can come back to.
