I had a look at the other two fundraisers for the fiction pledge yesterday, and feel a little proud that we're miles ahead. :)

Recorded my video pitch today, needs editing, so hopefully online Tues/Weds.

Cheers,

Drew.

Word is getting out Drew.
Last paragraph in this article mentions this dude who is kickstarting his pledge to write an Elite novella.

Edit: Looks like the Internet media is picking up on this. Several sites are reporting on your Kickstarter.

Brilliantly, someone has launched a Kickstarter of their own to raise the £4500 needed to secure the Writer's Pack pledge. Drew Wagar, from Kingsnorth, has already raised £2500 and plans to write a book called Elite: Reclamation.

I don't know whether to be scared, terrified, elated or what right now... this feels rather overwhelming!

Cheers,

Drew.

PCGamesN have already spotted a separate Kickstarter by one Elite fan hoping to raise the money to add his novel to the game. Rumour has it that if someone starts another Kickstarter project to back the project that’s hoping to back the Elite project, Kickstarter itself will implode.

That will only happen if David Braben backs the project that backs me... I think...

You should jot down some notes about how this is progressing Drew. It could make for an interesting intro to your book.

Just added this FAQ entry...

Q : So can I start a kickstarter to fund a pledge on your kickstarter which is funding a pledge on E:D ? ;)

A : I guess so! Just be prepared to lose your sanity / will to live / grasp of the real world (delete as applicable) trying to figure out whether this is madness, or a great idea in a really good disguise...

If this venture accidently collapses in on itself and becomes a wormhole / singularity / black hole (also delete as appropriate) I'll do my best to let you know in advance.

Alternatively, putting on a pink panther outfit and running over your own tail using a vacuum cleaner may help as a mental image.

Cheers,

Drew.

Definition: Punt pledge

To create a kickstart page as a sub-pledge site for another bigger kickstart project. In order to get a poor yet able specialist to a level of funding where they can bring there expertise to bare on a bigger project.

You heard it here first folks! Drew has officially created the pay it forward "Punt Pledge".

Drew, the tag-line under your photo on that Norwegian site, "Drew Wagar - in his best Dale Cooper imitation", is that one of yours?
