What will be interesting if you say "Sod that I'm writing the book anyway" - clearly DB planned to sell the rights to write about Elite for £4,500, that must still hold true even if his own kickstarter falls on its arse (I'm starting to get worried about the progressively slower backing...) - you could write the novel and if DB comes knocking for the cash - hand over the £4.5K and if he doesn't - you put the money into better production and possibly (after the eBook sells - ala Fusion) a physical print run...

Will see how it goes... decision there for Jan 2013 I think!

I'm glad that this Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter thing reminded me of Oolite and I decided to pop by. I'll gladly support your attempt!

As an aside, I'd perhaps have used smaller increments in the pledge amounts to lure people to pledge a bit more. Now, the jumps between the amounts are a bit steep...

Drew, have you thought about asking DB if he has some details about the setting for E:D? That might help both you (in plotting and for some updates for your Kickstarter) and him as it will allow his pledgers to know when the game will be set.

A good update for your KS would be a short "synopsis" of the story if you can work up an idea before the end of the campaign.
