I had a feeling that this poll would raise questions regarding the limited number of choices available hence the upfront apology.

Being my first poll I was initially unaware of the limitations on the number of choice and spent some time compiling a list of 39 location plus an elsewhere option only to find I could post only 10 choices.

Though, on reflection, probably flawed in its logic to some extent the list of location locations was based on the map of the trunk nightly download page that El Viejo previously posted. Therefore to answer Gimal Locke’s question “What is so special about Poland ?” the answer was that Poland had high download figures. Also it was late and I was obviously a little too tired.

Anyway getting back to topic and with the benefit of both hindsight and a good night’s sleep I think Gimi’s suggestion of responses i.e. UK, Germany, Nordic Countries (Scandinavia, Iceland, Finland), Russia, Europe, Oceania, Africa, North America, South America and Asia is probably about the best we can get with the ten options available.

Therefore I have reconfigured the poll.

[Edit] - Does anyone know if it is possible to reset the results ?

I am "Europe (Other than above)" then - from Austria.

I voted "Other" before - no idea where my vote has been re-attributed to now :?

I'm from North America, but since I voted already, I'm now from "Europe (Other than above)" :D

If you can't reset it, you owe me a ticket to Asia - we can't accept that the information I entered would be wrong, can we?

A palm beach or a himalayan hill station will do. 8)

I had voted "Other" before, now I see my vote is "Asia". (France here)

 Sorry.
I guess you would have to start a new thread, or ask Jens for help.

Shipbuilder, maybe it would have been a better idea to just use that google thing where you can put a pin in where you live. We had one a while ago.

Just get people to do that. Much more interactive (and accurate) than a poll.

:-)

Sounds like a good idea to me but to be honest I'm not too sure exactly which site is being referred to here.

If anyone is more familiar with this site I wouldn't have any problems if someone wanted to set up a where in the world 2 thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Selezen: I was looking into the google map thing and it looks like anyone that wants to put a pin on the map would have to register with google. I still have my account (even though I'm no longer using google as a search engine), but I sure some people will not want to have go to through registering with google just to participate. (But again, that's just what my reading suggests in my cursory research into the map idea).

I think you could be right there.

I found an alternative for it, called PinMaps. Still have to register an account, but here's a suggestion. I have registered an account, and I don't mind sharing the login information. The map can be found at http://www.pinmaps.net/map/11810/oolite/oolite-users

The log in is "Oolite"
The password is the same word in lowercase with bbs at the end. If anyone has problems working that out, please PM me.

It's a pretty feature packed little tool, actually. Let me know if it's a good thing to use.
