Thanks Maik - It would probably be best if I had an account of my own then I wouldn't need to bother anyone else asking them to upload oxps on to Wiki.
Do I request an account from you or someone else ?
With regard to uploading items on to the Wiki are their any notes on the procedure or preferences as to a particular system ?

Account details are in your mail.

Just look at pages that are similar to what you want to do and copy them. It is the easiest way to start. If you have specific questions about syntax, take a look at documentation for MediaWiki as this is the software that runs our wiki. If that doesn't help or there is anything else, ask here and someone will help.
Oh, and welcome! Great looking ships!

Maik thanks for the advice.
I'll crack on with getting one of the oxps finished then give it a go.

I thought that I would provide some screenshots of the first ship I am due to release. A Colonial Viper Mark 1.
Hope you all like it.

Very nice. Though it isn't something I would use, your Enterprise is quite excellent. Kirk and the crew would be proud.

your Enterprise is quite excellent.
Seconded , though I would expect that it to be too big for docking at regular system stations.

The ship looks great, especially the shot above the planet surface. The style of both model and texture reminds me of the rebel fleet from Star Wars.

@Shipbuilder: I love that bsg colonial viper, very old school, takes me back to when I watched the original series on TV. Can you do an X-Wing fighter? Done in this style it would be awesome. You could do the rebel forces and Staer9 could do the Imperials.

Thanks for the feedback guys glad you like the ships - At least I feel that I am heading in the right direction.
With regard to the Enterprise it is currently sized as per its actual size in Star Trek 2 however due to the differences in scale in Oolite it may need to be made bigger (At the moment it is dockable, though a tight fit without docking computers, but if I decide to increased its size i'll have to make it an npc and introduce some BigShips scripting with the help of Thargoid who has already kindly offered some very useful advice).
I use 3D Wings to model and Gimp to texture. If I decide to increase it's size I know how the scale up the model in 3D Wings and produce a new .dat file however does anyone know what effect this will have on the texture i.e. will the texture be ok, will I need to retexture from scratch or can you scale up the texture to fit a larger model ?
With regard to producing an X-Wing I have a number of ships in mind including an X-Wing to look at, some from movies, some designed by myself and some ships more in keeping with the original style in Elite however I have decided to complete and release the 9 ships currently in development before starting new ships (Otherwise I may well get carried away and produce lots of unfinished ships).
I’ll have to think up of a name for the new shipyards!!!!
The great thing about Oolite is that you can pick and choose what you want in your game and tailor it to your specific preferences (I know some people like all types and styles of ship while others prefer elite style ships only).
My initial aim is to produce a variety of different styles and types of craft so hopefully everyone will find at least some of them to their liking.

The texture will be fine, presuming you just rescale without modifying in detail.
Indeed there is a datscale.py script which can make a model uniformly bigger (or smaller) - you can grab it from Berlios in the same place as obj2dat and it's bretheren.
Editted to add - see here

Definitely! Like ship names, a good shipyard name is important.

I am not so sure if a "whatever Viper" is a good name for a ship outside of GalCop use.
to me Viper is synonym to police.

[wiki]Star Wars Ships[/wiki] already includes an X-Wing, though there's no harm in adding another version (with added detail, judging from the screenshots I've seen in this thread).
