Well... if I had no shaders, I'd happily fly the 'after' version.

Nice work CaptSolo, that's a cool trick with the normal map

Wow! I see big difference between the 2 pictures. The 3D feel is neatly improved and the ship's more realistic in the after pic. This could be a top upgrade OXP for me, cause i'm cursed with a "no shader" machine.
Great work CaptSolo!
PS: i'm currently using the DeepSpace no shaders shipset and i am happy with it, but this new work looks even better.

Thanks all. I am going back over the textures I had finished modifying and adding the pseudo 3D effect. It's not as much work as originally thought. GIMP is a wonderful tool. A big thank you to Smivs who told me how to work with layers.
It should be ready for release by the end of the month after a thorough testing period. Personally, this is a wonderful addition to my Ooniverse as I will have three core shipsets: Griff No Shaders (replacement), Deepspace (non-override), Smivs'Shipset V4 (non-override). The former will also be available as non-override.

I have finished with the texture mod for all core ships. It produced a growing admiration not only for Griff's modeling skills but his artistic ability as well. And I have the same admiration for everyone who have done the same. Now begins a thorough testing period and production of two individual OXP's: one replacement set and one non-override.

Update:
Release will be somewhat delayed, probably several weeks. Knee surgery will have me laid up for quite awhile and, sadly, away from the game as well.

Good luck! "Knees are evolution's way of saying F*** you!" I have been old, and as I pop out a kneecap about once a year, I'm inclined to agree!

"Of all the things I have lost over the years, I miss my knees the most". One of my mother's.

Thanks, doing better than I thought. Can only sit at my desktop 15 minutes at a time for now.
Regarding the all in one, have to make some changes because compressed file is well over the limit of my Box account. Two main culprits (not a nice description) are different color schemes for the same model (e.g. Cobra Mark III) and the fact that Griff's textures so efficiently use nearly every available space of the UV map. I should have a preview release up next week for players to test.

I seem to have automagically acquired some excess Box space (with increased file size) recently, Solo. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Aren't you kind!
However, the full sized set is approximately 70mb after compression, not nearly as much savings as I had hoped. Oolite on my computer struggles mightily with that installed, so for my own use I created a halfsized set which looks fine and plays great. That one compresses to about 20mb, but I had in mind to only distribute the full sized ship set. Unless your account allows such a large file I will have to split up the set.

I believe my account will accept files up to 100MB, Solo.
I'll create a folder for you as a collaborator, and we can see if it works.
