"A fitting end to a superb saga - characters with depth and feeling and a thrilling ride from one end of the galaxy to the other."

Hats off to you, Drew. Fantastic novel. Truly un-put-downable. And I mean that literally, since I read it until 6am.

:-)

I attended the same fast reading course Woody Allen has taken, and read finis in 10 minutes. The event takes place at ooniverse

Well done Drew, realy enjoyed it.

Keep the typos rolling in folks. The proofreaders owe me a pint for everyone they didn't spot! :D
every one :-D

Drew, you ruined my Ooniverse. In a good way (if that's possible). Now we need an Oolite mission where GalCop has fallen, and the ooniverse has fallen into anarchy. No more Vipers (except the rogue ones), and you have to help the 'Goids restore order, plus you get to blow up really big things while you're at it.

Err, is that seven pints or two so far? (Distain wasn't in my copy so you're not getting a pint for that one).....
Ditto here. Tell you what Drew, I can't deliver your pints in person so for each typo found, reported and verified in the first week after release, I'll make an AUD5 donation. I'm calling it $10 so far.

Hmmm.. Remember the Osprey is the name of the ship, not the class. As in Dark Star (Cobra), Persistence (Caduceus), Hammer(Caduceus), Spectre(Vampire), etc.

If it helps I can make the ident computer pick it up as a 'Meerkat', identity 'Osprey'.

Cheers,

Drew.
not sure if i'm misunderstanding, but just to clear up, Spectre is the model name, not something that someone's named it personally.

If I remember correctly, It's been a while since I've read Incursio, Rebecca named the ship Spectre when she first saw it, in some hangar somewhere, I forget exactly where. Sometime I need to read all four stories back-to-back.

As I recall (I maybe wrong here!), Killer Wolf let me know about this upcoming ship long before it was public and I was sworn to secrecy. It seemed the perfect vessel for Rebecca to fly after her Mk1 Vampire was destroyed. I think it had the codename 'Spectre' and was a Vampire Mk5.

I introduced the ship in Incursio with a play on the Volkswagen advert for the, then new, Mk5 Golf GTI - with Blaze O'Glory referring to it as the 'Original, Updated' as in this advert > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9myUv5b9zc

There was a sort of purist feel to the Mk5 Vampire, which made it more like the original Mk1 Vampire that Rebecca fell in love with at the end of Mutabilis.

I decided for Rebecca to dub it the 'Spectre' in Incursio when she first sees it.

From my perspective this was the first (and thus prototype) Mk5 Vampire... as alluded to by Killer Wolf here. In my Oouniverse, subsequent Vampire Mk5s were dubbed 'Spectre' class as a result of this original prototype being so successful in combat.

So the ship Rebecca flew was a Mk5 Vampire called 'Spectre'. Whereas subsequent vessels are 'Spectre' class...

Killer wolf may not agree entirely!

Cheers,

Drew.

Typo spotted, near the top of page 164.
Rebecca dove the Spectre out of the way, narrowly avoiding being crushed as the two
Behemoth’s collided.
Should read:
Rebecca dove the Spectre out of the way, narrowly avoiding being crushed as the two
Behemoths collided.

DOVE???

It's a colloquialism i.e. "Come on Ref! He dove!"

But I believe "dived" would be the correct word in this context.

If that's not the most mangled sentence I've seen this year then you can paint me blue and call me Shirley.

I did ponder during the proof-read for dove vs dived. But I looked it up on a few places in the t'internet and dove came out as an acceptable usage. So from my input it went through.
