It might just have been the way you ended it with a brace of question marks, which in my day always meant you were asking a question, or at least quoting one in such a way as to repeat it...

But whatever - next time I'll just ignore you, no matter if you are asking one.

On with naming of the ships!

How about "____ of _____" i.e. "Pride Of Riedquat" or "Jewel of Ceesxe"
Also you could have a randomly generated I.D. number for some ships, such as an Anaconda with the designation "UPS Hauler 15049" or other companies taken from YAH and other sources.

How about the plain <adjective> <singular-noun> form such as:

"Golden Dawn"
"Frozen Diamond"
"Grateful Dead" :-)
"Sophisticated Lady"
"Edible Poet" :-)
"Dark Future"
"Prancing Horse"
"Lethal Brandy"
"Invisible Man"
etc...

Then there is the <possessive-noun> <noun/abstract-noun> form such as:
(This is the complimentary form to the <noun> of <noun> form that Commander Wilmot suggested)

"Dileon's Revenge" (Location)
"John's Retirement Fund" (Person)
"Thargoid's Nemesis" (Species)
"People's Revolution" (Abstract)
"Cat's Purr" (Abstract)
etc...
