Further clarification of the British position:
In C. a. pygerythrus, the blue scrotum is displayed to conspecific males and females during a variety of agonistic, dominance and intergroup territorial displays (Struhsaker, 1967; Henzi, 1985). The blue scrotum is featured prominently in the 'red-white-and-blue' display that combines the bright red penis, the white belly fur and skin and the blue scrotum; in the red-white-and-blue display, a dominant male walks around a submissive male with his tail raised, displaying his blue scrotum (Struhsaker, 1967). Sometimes during the red-white-and-blue-display, a male stands upright with his erect penis bobbing up and down (Struhsaker, 1967). The red colour of the penis (Fig. 1C,D) is probably produced by capillary blood. The frequency of performance of the red-white-and-blue display is correlated with dominance and mating success (Struhsaker, 1967).

The saga continues...
We should be OK now though - we can trust our politicians to do the best thing for us, can't we?
Shame Scotland et al do not get a veto. Now that would have been fun!

British Supreme Court rules that British Parliament is sovereign - much to the disgust of people who, er, wanted the British Parliament to be sovereign …

Meanwhile, "If you vote for independence you'll be kicked out of Europe" now means "You voted to stay in the UK, so now you'll be dragged out of Europe against your clearly expressed wishes".

The British Empire fell some time ago. This long, drawn-out splattering noise is the sound of it hitting the ground.

Breaking news! There are unconfirmed reports coming in of disturbed earth being found in a cemetery in Edinburgh.
A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said he thought he could hear the Ode to Joy being whistled.

Not Russia, not Turkey, not Trumpistan … this proposal is from the UK. "Taking back control", indeed …
Journalists who obtain leaked official material could be sent to prison under new proposals

"The major overhaul of the Official Secrets Act – to be replaced by an updated Espionage Act – would give courts the power to increase jail terms against journalists receiving official material.

"The new law, should it get approval, would see documents containing “sensitive information” about the economy fall foul of national security laws for the first time.

"In theory a journalist [who] leaked Brexit documents deemed harmful to the UK economy could be jailed as a consequence."
(My emphasis.) Is this an attempt to blame Britain's looming economic woes on journalists, instead of politicians? Is it an attempt to criminalise bad news?

More 1984-ism from Dictator May's morally bankrupt government. Frankly, nothing these idiots do surprises me any more - this country is turning into everything I despise and I am totally disillusioned with what passes for democracy these days. Thank God I'm so old I'll probably be dead soon.

I feel like that sometimes, with the difference that I wish I were a bit older. But I think the thing to remember is this: one can feel better by getting more involved. Join a political party and a campaign group and go to meetings - and, er, hope that those things don't seem futile; at the least, one will be more involved with some kindred spirits. (I need to take this advice myself, because I've stopped going to meetings. Political meetings emerge here as being like Alcoholics Anonymous, only for the treatment of political despair!)

All the Remainers can relax - the dumber half of the Blair/Bush Axis of Evil rides to the rescue!
Tony Blair has said it is his "mission" to persuade Britons to "rise up" and change their minds on Brexit.
