@Redspear Good news! They liquidated my loan - and unfortunatly, me along with it.
Folks, thanks for the welcome, and the advice. I now have 7 kills, 4000cr. in the bank, a ship I can defend, and an ooniverse to explore.

Congrats to you... have a Delgonian evil brew on the house. Keep us in the loop as how you are doing- good or bad... we might be able to give advice on how to get around the problem or simply let you stew in your own juices on the planet who eats edible poets.are the kills missile or laser? Keep an eye open for escape capsules... they can get you up to 500 credits in insurance or next to nothing in bounty.

Ah yes, that tends to happen
...
I once took down a Black Monk Gunship in a well equipped but second hand adder... No really I did!
OK, so maybe it had something to do with the Viper Interceptors helping me out
but it was me who got the kill...
That gunship was having some trouble targetting me: I seemed to be surrounded by its multiple lasers. I expect that's been fixed by now and next time It'll cut right through me
4,000 credits in the black is a good place to be

That, IMHO, is an excellent tip...

Yep.. if there's a
Furball going on outside a station, and I have nothing more pressing to do, I'll often ignore all the combat and dash about scooping capsules left and right.. as a rule it's more profitable (
and incurs less combat damage!) than vapourising miscreants for the bounties.

I'm an old BBC B Elite pilot, who's just found Oolite a month ago.
I have spent the last month relearning to fly. And building my own Ooniverse from the OXP's - almost as much fun as playing the game
A big thanks to all the Devs and OSP'ers.
Anyway, must rush, I've a passenger to get to Edreor, ASAP.

Welcome Venator Dha! (...I opted not to use your initials
)

Ahh, so you're one of the originals
I started on the Spectrum and was seriously envious of all the extra ships you had on the BBC... but now with Oolite, I get to fly them!
...once I can afford them

Hello, I am new and so I want to introduce myself:
I am 40 years of age and live in Austria/Europe. I started playing games back in the 80ies and so grew up with the original Elite (C64 version).
During the past years I grew more and more disappointed with the so called AAA titles, which nowadays prove to be nothing more than beta versions: eg. BF4, X Rebirth, just to mention a few examples. And so I was searching for remakes of titles I played in my youth. Well and thats how I came across oolite or better: how I got "dragged" into the ooniverse
It´s a great game, because it´s from players for players. You can see that everywhere.....And with all the oxp there is almost no limit
Currently I am just playing arround, trading and fighting, saving money for a better ship (the python ET would be great
). As soon as my time (and family) allows, I also want to get into modding a little bit, so I can contribute someting to this great game. But thats a long way, because I´ve got no experience.....

Hi, SARR, welcome to the boards! If and when you come to wanting to write your own OXP, don't worry too much about lack of experience: it's a very helpful and supporting community here. If you have any questions, ask away: someone will be able to at least point you in the right direction.

As I had the tape version I didn't have all the ships, so I also missed out until now
Really like all the possibilities with Oolite, I'm considering buying a Mamba and doing some convoy guarding with Escort Contacts OXP.

Many thanks for the warm wellcome! I´m looking forward to many interesting discussions!
Btw. are you going to get Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous? The first is nothing for me because it is MMO and I have too much to do (kids, sports......) than playing 24/7 to keep up......so OOlite is right for me, beacuse I can make my own pace. And nobody cares, if I can´t play for some days or even weeks.......Elite Dangerous sounds more interesting, but I am not sure, if it really will be as good as we might assume.....
For the moment I have yet another question regarding Oolite: My installed Version is 1.77.1, but in the forum I read about 1.79 too. Is this version already existing? I didn´t find it for download.
