In the download version no, it's either sidewinders, cobra 3's or viper interceptors (depending on the tech level you hire at). But an adjustment of the shipdata.plist entry could make you a one-off personal version that uses Merlins.

I hacked my version long ago to give me a swarm of 9 Viper Interceptors. I quit using it shortly afterwards. :lol:
They were doing more damage by ramming than lasers. :P
Fortunately, the collision-checking logic is at least slightly improved since then.

I don't mean to be dense, though I admit that AM that, somewhat, but how exactly would you change the shipdata.plist to achieve what you described. I've recently learned not to mess with such things without some supervision. :roll: :)

I'll try and find some time and put together an example for you. But in the meantime have a look in the shipdata.plist of the OXP. You should see that the three types are like_ship'd to the existing trunk versions of the ship. Basically you just need to alter one (or all) to like_ship the Merlin, plus probably a few other tweaks of the settings to get them to work right.

Beautiful! Methinks the final release of the Wyvern (DSE) should shoot in blue as well. Orange is actually looking pretty dull.

A bit of alright! Nice to see my ship with shaders on which I was not able to see play testing. BTW there is an updated version of that ship coming out soon. Same specs, just some minor model and texture tweaks per another user's request.

As mentioned, some minor changes were made including the addition of normal mapping. I'm looking for people to test it and report back their findings. There is a readme file included as well as saved game file to play with.
