How about using non-flashing flashers? They'd have some transparent quality about them. Although you'd need a lot of them and they'd still be culled unsatisfactorily...

(Which has made me realise that Oolite's engine doesn't use LoDs)

I think being able to have planets with rings would probably be a good suggestion for Oolite 2.0, I'll add it to the feature requests list.

I Think Thargoids are in for some serious whooping, seen above lave before sensor arrays and weapons are installed, in game shots...

They'd make a damn fine Triptych, that's for certain.

Yes. It's the 'throwing sparks' special effect from a nearly dead ship viewed from really close range. The nearly dead ship is off screen, straight down (see where the targeting pointer is pointing).

It's a special pod from Vector. Don't forget your sunglasses .-)

Thank-you Svengali, I should have guessed it was yet another mysterious Vector creation :)

I was too late to save the Python that this pod came from, but when I re-checked the distress call, the pod commed, so to speak:

almost finished with placing and rotating turrets, after that a bit of scripting making the turrets fire Plasma Pulse Weaponry, incl the animation of rotating turrets when the player is near..

conversion table is for each x,y,z coordinate X=-X, Y = Z, Z=-Y, which is why it takes so long to place things not alone rotate them from 3d max to Obj coordinates thus oolite coordinates..

Here is a screenshot in interstellar space

Enjoy... Frame...
