I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Screenshots
It seems that GalCop, while allowing me to post that pic, will not allow me to give any explanation whatsoever.

Reskinned Commies Station
Just flown by a station I re-skinned, from the Commies OXP - the first time I've successfully applied lights. I love the OXP but the stations are beginning to look too basic compared to some of the gorgeous new Griff and Pagroove stations. Still wanted an austere, utilitarian look.

Re: Screenshots
Ooh, that's nice! Yeah, some of the older oxps, while still excellent in themselves, looks a bit odd compared to some of the excellent textures we have around these days. I remember the planets in Assassins looking very out of place compared to my default ones added by System Redux... It's just occurred to me that I could probably have set them to use an SR texture myself. Shame I didn't think of that when I was playing through it!
Re-texturing some of the older ships/stations is a nice idea! Shame it's far beyond my present know-how...

Re: Screenshots
I can still only repaint over the existing textures, and then only if the panel lines/edges are apparent, or guessable (they often aren't). I've nowhere near the computer skills needed to create skins from a dat file or from Wings3D.
If anyone would like me to skin or re-skin something they'd have to create the basic line map for me to work over. I got away with it when I reskinned the B-Wing my Commander Jagger flies because the skin was arranged in such a way that just applying a "Busy" texture to the whole png (excluding windows, engine vents etc.) happened to map onto the ship neatly.
On the Commies station I could see where most panels applied by looking at the png in the textures folder. It's not perfect. I could have done better iif all the panel lines and edges had been visible.

That was a very nice repaint you did of the Dragons, I use those textures myself. But then I made it easy for you, by including the blank auvs in the oxp package.tonyhippy wrote:I can still only repaint over the existing textures, and then only if the panel lines/edges are apparent, or guessable (they often aren't). Re: Screenshots
Personally the stations are bugging me more, which are looking even more out of place compared to the P.A.Groove-stations which are my default. I think Assassins-systems are now the only places where I ever see one of the vanilla stations again.Mauiby de Fug wrote:Ooh, that's nice! Re: Screenshots
Thanks! Glad you liked them! Would that other OXP writers could provide them too - I'd do a lot more re-skinning.Cmdr Wyvern wrote:That was a very nice repaint you did of the Dragons, I use those textures myself. But then I made it easy for you, by including the blank auvs in the oxp package.

Re: Screenshots
I launched into a furball, lobbed a few railgun projectiles at this miscreant, and he launched all four missiles at me in one go:

Great pic, even though inbound missiles aren't usually one of the prettiest sights to see. LOL

Re: Screenshots
I ran into the Crystalline Entity in Oolite, due to a bug in an OXP I was making interacting *BADLY* with another OXP...and I took multiple screenshots for the scale/scope of it:

It was like a tessellation of Cobra 3's.
