Ok, I am stubborn.

As I can't get it, look at the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59450711@N08/5536805387/

"DRIVE MALFUNCTION..."
Shot a couple of Thargoid warships and then I discovered not one but 2 generation ships. I did not know we could find 2 of them.
I selected your link above, selected the 'share this' option. Selected the 'grab html/bb' code menu. There I selected small size and BB-code. Than you get two url-links. I copied only the first line below:

Its the first time I visited the site flickr for getting a link. For first timers photo bucked is probably easier as you need already some experience here to know were you need to look for. I now used the small version of the picture. When you want it enlarged you can click on it.

Thanks...
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

I think that says it all. What OXPs are we seeing in those images?

From what I can see, it's Griff all in one ship set and his notorious [wiki]Griff Boa[/wiki] "Oolite - It's not just for triangles anymore", which is not in the all in one ship set.

I can't comment on the scale of Griff's ships, but the Comparative Size Chart will give you a good idea how the 'core' ships measure up.

How about the background nebulae etc? In all of those screenshots the background is a lot more vivid and colourful than I'm used to seeing.

Do you have system-appearance-changing OXPs installed? At least some of them also change the appearance of the sky, adding more and bigger nebulae.

Another possibility is that they are actually there, but you need to increase your monitor gamma in order to see them.

You may be pleased to have a look at the screenshots page at Berlios, JD. Plenty of colorful skies there. ;-)

I think I'd have to say no (I'm not at my home PC to reel off a list, but I don't think any of them are of the system-appearance-changing variety).

You're right, very nice indeed.

Does anyone recognise an OXP doing its stuff in any of these shots (the ones above or at Berlios)? Cos I'd sure like my skies to look like that.

It certainly helps when setting "Reduced Detail" to off in your options. Some planet adding oxps do increase the nebulae. e.g. systemRedux.

However, I know from my old, and slow computer () that systems with much nebulae had a large impact on my FPS rate. That is probably the reason that this effect can be disabled with "Reduced Details".
