There's a lot to be said for implication... Personally, if I'm reading a story with pornographic scenes (as opposed to a PWP) and it gets too detailed on the mechanics of the act, I tend to find myself skimming past large portions of it. If you focus too much on the mechanics then you lose the emotional component - it becomes a story about the act, instead of being a story about the characters interacting, and in a story that's primarily driven by the emotional interactions of the characters like this one it tends to fall flat.
I think you struck a good balance in that last chapter. Showing the lead up, then implying the act itself.

What's vaguely disquieting is that it seems that the narrator is now banging his adopted sister... and his last score was with his stepmother! Ah, country folks...

Point well spoken, and I fully agree. However...
This question came from the fact that there were moments in that last story, I wished to expound upon. And perhaps I am vague about what I consider explicit. It is not so much the "act" itself that I would be describing, but more of the little details leading up to it. Shoving his **** up her ***, is not my style. But a caress here , or scratches down a back there, I think can add "interest" to the story. To describe the act without being vulgar. I think there can be a beauty in sex without making it sound like a "Dear Penthouse" letter. To concentrate not so much on the "ins and outs" of the act as it were
as on the agony and the ecstasy.
Perhaps, I need to just shut up already, and let you all know when I have a sample ready.

LOL! Official member of the family, not adopted sister! Gotta love those technicalities! And Terra is not officially his stepmother either. Actually, I see it as she was already mothering him aboard the station anyways. It was just mothering with fringe benefits. Ya, that still seems a bit wrong. I blame in the fact that I now live in Tennessee... 'nuff said.

I think you can suggest a lot without saying much. If you've seen my earlier works
Ships That Pass In The Night and
Dangerous Moonlight, I think it would be quite easy to guess what Hammond and T'kella were doing to each other at the various points in the story, but I was by no means explicit anywhere. But that's just me, and our writing styles are very different.

Oh, I agree! There are simply times I feel restrained/constricted by my own self imposed (as well as socially imposed) restrictions. And I would like to venture off the more prudish path once in a while and play in the mud for a bit! It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, and even I don't expect it is something I will do often. Just once in a while.};]

To use the acronym - IMHO - A story will find its own path (as you have noted), so I think anything too
explicit at this turn of the story will be like crashing through 'fence' and might be a bit untidy. If the fence is climbed well, then the path can wend it's way through the hidden garden without anyone noticing the forbidden fruit before it's sampled. Then it can justy as neatly slip out the gate and be across some barley fields in the summer sun while the lord of the manor is busy ogling maids over a cigar and brandy
or should that be
This is the nice balance of the line, keep walking it with confidence and consideration, +1 from me

Thank you for your well worded input SteveKing!! };] And fear thee not, I shall continue this tale with the same careful tread and upon the same flower strewn path that I currently follow! I will simply be linking short (?) addendum's for those who wish to peruse them. They will have no impact on the story itself, so those for whom the fruit is too sweet, may ignore them should they choose.

Okay, here we go. This is my testing of the forbidden waters. I make available to you, an addendum if you will, to the previously posted chapter. This is just a test. If you have not read the previous chapter, please do so or this will make no sense.
IT IS VERY ADULT IN NATURE! If YOU are not adult in nature, then please do not download it.};] If sweaty bodies and moans of passion are not your cup of tea, then please do not download it.
For those brave souls who like a little Irish in their coffee, then be aware this is a standard text file that has been zipped and a password has been applied. The password is

HERE
This was fun, but considerably harder than I thought it would be! There are just so many ways to describe... things. };] It is a first tentative try at that sort of writing. A most interesting experiment to be sure! Some of it I thoroughly enjoyed, while other parts were difficult. I
think I handled the subject with some degree of artistic integrity. As to what degree, I leave that up to you.
And so, I leave it to you, my readers (those who wish to that is..), to tell me how I did. In the meantime, I am off to start the next regular chapter!

Phew..! Is it getting a little warm over here, or is it just me
Once again, a lovely balance of racey and romance. I do like the way you've chosen to approach it and allow the reader the opportunity to load the 'oxp' if they so desire
Have you read any of John Norman's 'Gor' series? Other than the situation being a little less 'civilised' and very male oriented, from what I remember, the erotica has a similar flavour.
Great story with.. er.. benefits

[continues hijack]We should open a Gor thread in the off-topic forum then. I have read 26 of them and wrote some Cliff's Notes on the series for about seven years...

You missed out the best part, his dad is banging his ex girlfriend. I love humans. Let us not forget that the morals of today were not the morals of the Roman empire and may not be the morals of tomorrow. Also being stuck in a box with attractive people facing life and death together, well quite frankly I'm quite sure there are many, many rocking cobras up there.
And that's just the humans. Combine that with the anthropomorphic variations and you have the possibility of some absolutely diabolical couplings. Look at the dark wheel for instance in that one, someone was acting as a spiderworm incubator (now that's what I call getting f***ed, right royally).
I'm sure there are pilots wearing their love interest/co-pilots like some strange constantly fornicating cephalopod space suit. Then you have slaves and prey items thrown into the mix. Imagine the Vixen on a ship crewed by timid rodent people? The possibilities for not only sex but weird screwed up interpersonal and cross species relationships are boundless.
We've touched on racism, but these works are good for the mind as they open doors. Expand the scope of the literature and invigorate the medium with even more interesting what ifs? They challenge people, presenting them with a more liberal universe. For authors it enables them to shake the pillars of established morality.
It's something that needed to happen. We write about killing people all the time, but we shy away from the physicality of life. Quick question: What is more common in your world, Sex or Death? So why are we all writing more about the rarer event?
