Another hint.

In the series which has the unofficial crossover, an unusual rift in space leads into an alternate fluid hyperspace that is described exactly like the Babylon 5 hyperspace. And the ships in there - which are from the crossover species - are mostly organic living things. Both concepts are nearly unique for the series that has the crossover.

Wait a minute...

I initially dismissed this as a far too obvious comparison, because they appeared in the season 3-4 two-parter (not season 2-3) and because I couldn't fathom the name of the species being the same in B5 and Voyager but maybe that last point was me misunderstanding the question.

Anyway, here goes:

All correct, and that even with my misinformation (sorry ) about series 2 & 3 ... remembered that one wrong.

It wasn't obscure for me, though - my son is an AVID Voyager fan and we've sat and watched the aforementioned episodes repeatedly, as they're one of the few Voyager eps that I can tolerate watching. That and "In The Flesh", where 8472 set up a virtual representation of Starfleet Academy are some of the better ones. Or at least more enjoyable.

Other than that, VOYAGER SUCKS!

Well PKD's remember wholesale thingy was 'losely' made into Total Recall the Arnie film. Thre's been a recent remake of the film IIRC also called Total Recall.

Okay... what about "Blade Runner 2: Edge of Human" by KW Jeter, sequel to the film Bladerunner, based on "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K Dick?

(If I'd looked at the dates on Total Recall more closely I'd have realised the second book, published a year before the film's release, was unlikely to be a sequel to it...)
