It’s one of the ways to clear offender or fugitive status… fight your way in, take your punishment, be it cleaning up after the craboids, or attitude adjustment, pay your fine (which can run to thousands, as I’ve found out), and you’re ‘clean’ again.

I was going to suggest that those penalty messages could be expanded slightly… made a bit more judgemental and witty perhaps, but in vanilla Oolite they’re limited to one line, I think, as they appear at the bottom of the F5 screen. Using an arrival report screen, like the BGS one, there is plenty of room for elaboration of some sort.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

The message is not about clearance but about being a minor offender. You already got a warning before docking by a viper that you will be fined on docking. That message should still be somewhere in your comms-log.

This "cleaning" message (and the fine) was already generated since at least 1.65 as a short living on-screen message, somewhere at the lower half of the F5 screen after docking. Most of the times I even hadn't the change to read it properly before it disappeared again. Since 1.74 this message and the clearance messages are moved to the report screen were they make a bigger impact on the commander.

One good thing though: Because of your community service by "cleaning up after the craboids", your minor offender record has been cleared and you are accepted by the station community again as a clean pilot.

On the bad side: this cleaning job took you a full day. Bad news when you were on a time pressing contract.
Just one small addition: IIRC the "[...]oids"-part is randomized, so on another day you may have to clean after other types of beings.

Very nice pics. You may want to add one more corresponding to novabombed planets' F7 screen.
