OK, as it's now fully released, I am retiring the Planetfall Taxi OXP in favour of Spara's In-System Taxi OXP. It does a similar job, and will save me an OXP to update (as I haven't gotten around to that one yet, to make it work properly with Planetary Compass as Spara already has).
So anyone using PF Taxi is urged to consider replacing it with In-System Taxi instead, as PF Taxi will no longer be updated.

Hi Thargoid, I have also experienced the darkness instead of landing image bug, but also that in my other game save, it works fine, nothing to do with which side of the planet I'm on, just that one save works and the other doesn't. I'm guessing there's something in the save-game file affecting this, I'll send you them both so you can see for yourself wether it behaves the same on your system.
Also just as a request, is there anyway to get those images a much higher resolution and have a zoom-in starting from further out?
https://www.box.com/s/tcpbyfenv3otqfs4vu5p (doesn't work)
https://www.box.com/s/npcp7i4q9frtgviyhcg1 (does, but file is oddly large, only just noticed that!)
EDIT: Thanks Thargoid, I'll go report the Troomp spam!

The images are sizes so as not to make the OXP too big. Some (especially the moon ones, from NASA) may be available in larger size from the web. Others are made via a program and are at their output size.
I'll look at your save games a soon as I can.
Editted to add - the huge (working) file is full of mission variable data (8MB worth!) from Troomps OXP. You may want to report that separately? I'll see if there's anything in there more relevant to PF tomorrow.

I know it is deliberate that the Planetary Landing Capability isn't fixable by RepairBots, but today the landing capability broke down and my automatic RepairBots attempted to fix it, and later reported that the fix was completed (though it wasn't). A bit confusing, and a waste of one repair shot. I guess this is more of a RepairBots bug...?

What were you doing when the RP made their attempt?
It sounds like the blocking scripting has a hole in it somewhere - will look into it when I get a moment.

I had just picked up a passenger on a DHS moon using spara's in-system taxi. Upon launching, the notification came that the landing capability was damaged and the bots were activated. In the mean time, I docked at the main station and noted that the bot charges were reduced from 10 to 9 but the landing capability was indeed showing in orange with N/A appended. I launched from the station as-is, and after a while, a message that the bots were finished came up, but the landing capability remained orange (not sure if it still had N/A after it at that point).
This is in 1.77 on Windows slightly modified; I recompiled from source code (made a change so that the target reticle text displayed smaller, which isn't adjustable outside of source) but only am using the modified exe. The rest of the install is still the default 1.77. I could try it again with the full 1.77.1 compile build (Feb. 6) as I do have those files and did not save the commander after this happened -- so presumably the landing capability will break again. I also still have the unmodified 1.77 executable, so could try to repeat this on a "stock" 1.77 too.

Just tried it on the stock 1.77 and the same thing happened (modified the cumulative failure chance value in your script to ensure failure), so it's definitely not a build issue. The comms text actually shows the activation before the failure notification, if that helps in tracking down the problem.
Repair system activated
ALERT - Planetary landing modifications require urgent maintenance.
Do not attempt to land again before they are repaired!
then, four minutes later, the
Available ship repair completed - Repair system entering standby mode

OK, thanks. That narrows things down a bit as to where I need to be making the check in the code.
I think I can guess what the problem is (as the landing capability is one of the few items that could break when docked) and there may be a missing check on the repair chance for that situation. I'll look at it when I get a chance.

Is it possible that this OXP could be altered in such a way that when you make planetfall you are presented with a planetary interface screen (F4) where a custom background image can be inserted per planet? Then from the interface (which is basically the main star port) you could travel to the other destinations on the planet per hovercraft, shuttle, people mover etc at an expense of course?
At the destination you then also would have an interface screen.
When you want to launch you then first have to travel back to the main spaceport from which the orbital boost is performed.
This could have a few advantages:
- Flavor
- A more custom setup per planet instead of random
- Support for BGS like backgrounds which is nice for artists.
For start you could provide the locations that are already in planetfall.
Just an idea.

Currently no. When you land you actually dock with a temporary station, so end up in the standard station main screen. It's not possible at the moment to switch to the interface (F4) screen by scripting.
But the F4 screen itself could be populated, either by the main OXP or by an add-on one.

Ok, So it is currently not possible to go from 1 interface to the other.
If you are all right with it I will try to make some custom artwork for the current planetfall locations. For an idea for what I'm aiming at see the Screenshots thread with the Xexedi image.

Fine with me, although we may end up with background image clashes with BGS and other OXPs, like Smivs has with his new OXP.
I'd do it as a bolt-on OXP for PF rather than including them in the main one, as then the download size would be a little too large I think. But it'd work fine that way and should be quite easy to script.

Ok here's a screen for the Interface screen on Teraed.
What I now want to do is to apply this interface screen into BGS if you make a planetfall on the surface of Teraed only.
Is that possible? Can you help me to make a model for an add on to insert those screens?

I'm away for a couple of days, but when I get back then yes I can.
Making it system-specific and on planetary landing only is easy. I'll need to speak with Svengali about making it play nicely with BGS though - that may be the more tricky part without a bit of tweaking.

Nice. Then I'm going to create a few more backgrounds. Right now I have 2.
