Ah the erstwhile silhouette, intended as a derogatory term it has since been elevated to high art for it's capacity for starkness. Wonderful thing is it's easy to vector and I like vectors. :D

Yeah, I was surprised at that. As for the other octants: alas, no Zaquesso, and no Cequququ! Oh those Cequququian shrew steaks - so tasty!
I got a Zaquessoan Evil Juice into the canon though! ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

Disappearing systems after the fall of the corp, no Xeer and Inera? Really? Thank you, this news is of great interest. :)

Thanks. I just wish I was better at it. I really like the Empire one, but the rest? Eh, they're okay.

So last night while doing cargo runs in open, I got interdicted by an NPC Cobra whose pilot had a Dangerous rating. Me, Harmless, and armed with an effectively unmodified Cobra (i.e. twin pulse lasers, no shield or hull improvements) was able to take him down with him not even managing to breach my shields.

So I'll accept that the NPC must have been having a bad day (my personal rule of combat is to fight until my shields are breached, then get the hell outa there), but at no point did the idiot think that they should flee.

On a related note, has anyone come across any lowly ranked, but competent pilots (as opposed to Competent)? The Combat ranking is only a measure of how many kills you've made - it's not a measure of your actual skill. Somewhere out there should exist the next Rebecca Weston...

SagA can be reached in less than 12 hours, about 700 jumps (constant jumping in a 39.4ly capable ship). The only thing slowing you down is the last 2k where the planner gives up and you have to plan each jump manually. The furthest point you can reach from Sol is MYEIA THAA RI-B D13-1 [-1575, -17, 65349] 65,368 light years from Sol. I've searched the edge high and low, that's as far as I could get in an Anaconda with 41.17ly max jump range.
<sighs> When I read stuff like that, I cannot help but feel... annoyed/disgusted/disheartened... I can't really describe it! Ho-hum!

Flying in my exploration vessel... finally made it to Lave. Now have to backtrack 100+ lyrs and retrieve my trading vessel so I can set up new shop. Interesting that the star chart is like that of G1 and it makes me feel like I was home. also picked up 1 ton of Lavian booze. will keep it with my explorer so that when I am out and about. i might be able to sell it for a pretty penny.

I got her included in the NPC database. She's out there... somewhere.

Technically, Having used Raxxla. She's everywhere.
Take a second of that person in time. Stitch the start of the second back to the end and technically you'll have them forever.
As are several other people I could mention. :D

Powerplay! Ho-hum!
Powerplay is a new way to play Elite: Dangerous. In Powerplay, you can participate in an ongoing battle for interstellar conquest and control that enhances every aspect of the Elite: Dangerous experience. When Powerplay launches, you'll be able to ally yourself with any one of a number of galactic Powers, earning valuable perks, reputation bonuses and credits for your allegiance. As a trusted ally of your chosen Power, you will be able to guide their strategy, take on special objectives to advance your shared cause, and dominate human space. Your choices and actions will have a direct and visible impact on the balance of galactic power.

"If you choose to participate in Powerplay, it will add a whole new dimension to Elite: Dangerous," Lead Designer Sandro Sammarco says.
No comment from this lone-wolf!

 Because that's what it's all about, isn't it? A 100-billion star galaxy that you can skip across in a weekend, and where whole solar systems can be turned upside down with a flick of your joystick. Do you think maybe some people might have a teeny bit of an ego problem?

Don't get me wrong, I've indulged in a fair amount of galactic conquest in my time - but as the driving force behind an empire or a species, not as a captain of a single starship. Frontier are rapidly going bonkers.

Either that, or it's more sales-weasel codswallop - I ain't too sure which! Perhaps both?

One man, one ship! Blaze your own trail! Yeah, right!

I assume that's "Your [collective]" rather than "Your [singular]" - for an individual player, the difference between that and a random number generator might be rather hard to determine.

It does seem a bit like a space empires game - but rather than the players commanding thousands of faceless NPCs, there'll be a few NPCs commanding ... or at least herding ... thousands of faceless (and, indeed, headless) players. An interesting reversal, potentially.

In Oolite, if you believe your mission briefing, you apparently take an action which has the potential to change the entire future of the Cooperative, and that's just in the core game, so I think even the occasional ability to play a key role as an individual isn't entirely flawed.
