I wrote him a "welcome" PM ... let's see if there is any response.

A user under that exact same name seems to have registered in a lot of very diverse forums and boards in a very short time, according to Google, without posting anything anywhere.

If that raised a false positive, I'm sorry, but I assume if that is the case there will be some participation at some point.

Strong suspicions about this one. Nothing on SFS but there are several other profiles of the same name dotted about (and it's a dubious name to begin with). And the email address is a "company" email, via a Yahoo account. And s/he joined on a Sunday.

Edit: make that a definite spambot. I've found several banned memberships under this name, and a spampost flogging phones. Kill it.
