Sorry, guys - not been doing any work for the last day or so. I got a bolloxing from the other half for spending every waking hour on the computer, so am taking it a bit easy for a few days until things calm down a bit. I'll do as much as I can, but I may not be as prolific (ha ha) as I have been over the last week.

Real life - dagnammit!!!

I haven't really done much more to the GY, cos I got muddled in importing the new Greek ships (from 8bitapocalypse) into my version. Damn thing kept crashing on the shipyard screen, but after hours of mucking about, discovered that I had added a comma to the last entry in an array (whilst converting to ASCII from XML) in the shipyard.plist file

That's the problem with being a VB programmer...not very good with the advanced languages!

I'm waiting for the new models before I do any more - I need to see if A_H's beacons are big enough.

I'm out of the loop, anyway.
Don't have anything to work on, so I'll lazily sit back and see what you come up with, heehee.

Well, apart from tweaking the positions of ships, I'm pretty much done until I get some custom models and skins for thestuff in the graveyard.

A_H, how's the beacon coming along? Is it ready for use? Is there a model, texture and plist file to download anywhere? I can only find the Wings model (which looks fantastic).

If not, I could always try and make them myself... I need to try and learn how to use this python script thing anyway...

As far as I am concerned the Buoy-model is finished, the skin too.
I posted them on the TionislaGY yahoogroup two days back.

It's your baby now.

*Goes to check yahoo-group in case something went wrong there*

I just checked there - the wings model is there, but I can't find a dat file or zipped Oolite model. Definitely no plist file.

Ok, I checked too. Posted the source-BMP for the skin.

As I understand it, Rxck is having some problems extracting the .dat from the wings-file. (at least; a .dat containing data)

Neither of us is doing any plisting.

Ok, I have braved the depths of Python and extracted the dat file.

There's a new zip file on TionislaGY called Tionisla_Graveyard_Beacon.zip

It includes the dat file and the PNG. I used a text editor to assign the PNG as a texture instead of the BMP file.

I can do the plists. Two cool small monuments run ok, just have to get the 'go' from A_H wether he thinks they look okay or need further embelishment etc.

Hey Rik, now that the dat file for the beacon is available, can you test it? can you even make a shipdata.plist file for it?

Sure, no sweat (errr... nevermind I'm sweating like an ox ATM, subtropical pre-storm conditions...)

about the plists: I need a 'wishlist' for that, what are the objects' characteristics?
EDIT:

I uploaded some screenshots, at Hughesd, screenshots.zip with the standard beacon in vincinity to give you an idea of sizes.

(EDIT 2) that's smallmonument 1,2 and the beacon.

Rxke...er...<shiftily looks from side to side> The zip file is empty...

Regarding the characteristics, it might be just as good to use the characteristics of a witchspace beacon or something, but with the ability to fire missiles if shot at.

emptuuuh?!?!

that's why it uploaded so swiftly  Um, something to do with the back-forwardslashes presmably.. can i email it to you insted, just tomake sure? (PM me your adress)
weird though, the zip weight in at 1.3 mb, so it isnt empty..

re: missiles: ok, see what I can do (that's the AI part, too then )
BTW remember the similar sized scarabs A_H mentioned, that sounded sooooo creepy! I'd love to implement those instead of mere missiles some time...
