OK small additions to chart 4 and the pargroove thing is fixed on chart 3.

I'll have a read through PhantorGorth's musings and see if I can suggest anything.

When I open the link to chart4 about half of it is route free (no purple lines) and no system icons on half the white dots - is this correct? I know it is a WIP I just wanted to make sure that my pdf viewer wasn't screwing things up.

Yes, it's a showing the progress thing. Now you see the work that goes in the front end of one of these things. I would automate it but then all of the maps so far have needed some "distance tweaking"

Based on the spot by Ahruman in a different thread (piccie no longer linked) can I suggest "Razor's Edge" (or "The Chain")

Apologies for the squiggly area - GIMP and a touchpad don't make a great mix!!

After reading Diziet Sma reference to my map I went and read the thread on Galaxy 4. To aid with that I modified my map (version 2) to put two species with homeworlds near G4 which would give the a possible reason for war that could explain the peculiarities of this galaxy. Also those two species (Lizards and Felines) are distributed quite nicely (Lizards mostly on the left and Felines mostly on the right) to create the divide between the left and right portions of G4 as shown in DaddyHoggy's map.

OK this keeps Thargoids out of this so you may or may not like it.

Who says that the Thargoids aren't a factor as well?

A three-way interspecies war doesn't seem too far fetched to me. Anyone else care to chime in with their thoughts?

Why isn't the Orange route not connected to Galcenter in G3 with one of the above illustrated links?
Corporate states are safe enough for a spaceway.

Hey, I can't be expected to pick up every logical thing, that's why we're all here. Fresh set of eyes and all that.
I'll fix (making some minor alterations for profitability) and upload tonight. Along with the route finished gal4.

Ok Let's try that again this time with forced text inflection.

OK! We have updates! Finished the routes on map 4 and did the alterations to map 3 taking it through several dangerous but profitable regions.

I should have the rest of the systems done on Map 4 by the weekend then we can get naming the war zone. Nearly half way through, Woot!

Nice. I think that this will be an interesting region to find routes in.

OK before we wade into g4 Let us take stock shall we? Firstly what is oolite canon as already being there:
The Comoonin
The Communist Ooniversal is the organization through which the many communist systems share the unique technology found only in those systems. The Comoonin is also also rumored to be a coordinating organ for the effort to spread communism, fight (other) dictatorships and undermine capitalism. It is believed that their secret headquarters is located somewhere in Galaxy 4 - the only galaxy without any corporate states.
[edit]Executive SpaceWays
Executive SpaceWays, while still a fledgling company, have already made themselves a reputation for building high specification luxury passenger transport and escort vessels, which have a commensurately high price.
Based at Lavebe in Galaxy Four, the company maintains lavish offices and showrooms, befitting the class of clientele their ships' high cost and status tends to attract. Presently, the company's sales brochure details the H-4 Trident Executive Shuttle, the E-3 Gemini Escort, the E-5 Delta Long-Range Escort, the mighty H-7 Strelka CruiseLiner and their newest release, the P-3 Personal Shuttle. For more information, visit the company's information page or your local authorised Executive SpaceWays Dealer

-------------

Right firstly the communist systems are quite spread and not in particularly great places to exact control. So I might be able to scrape up a communist region around middle middle and middle top but I'm not promising anything.

As for the Executive SpaceWays, It seems a funny place to build a luxury transport facility (in a galaxy with no corps) but hey the blurb did say they were "fledgeling" So I'll see what I can do on that score as well.

I was going to try one thing, based on our discussion of the G4 war zone hypothesis; Anti-regions, i.e. battle lines points of insurgency where the Thargons are more active.

Thargoid Irruption zones sounds quite catchy (not to be confused with eruptions (one goes from the inside out, the other the outside in). I noticed that the sections of anarchies and multi-nations seemed to go in waves so it should make for quite a cool map when I get it done. Then we can get going with the zones maybe the odd short supply trade route , and WW2 metaphor. :D

I realise that the 3 way war is unpopular in some quarters but given the state of the map, a galactic cold war doesn't cover the kind of devastation we're seeing here. Sure additional collateral damage? Sure but these are Vast sweeps across the map which only stop with a concentrated number of higher political worlds that can come to each others aid. This galaxy is in serious trouble.

Well I'll do the basics and work in everyones suggestions so far. If the majority hate the **** out of it we can go back to the drawing board.

We'll try it for starters. I'm sure I can come up with something plausible that keeps every one happy without making the man too "busy".

Man! There are a lot of threads discussing this.
