Do you think it is possible to include a chat client as a module of Elite which could be activated when landing at a space station. The chat will open a windows showing the people present at this station and will allow trading, file sharing limited to oxp (exchanging or why not selling oxp) and chatting.
Could the whole pilot-interaction thing be achieved across a p2p network?
-No need for a server
-Plenty of free (GNU) p2p clients with 'chat' facilities whose code *could* be adapted to suit
-Doesn't need to be quick if, as seems sensible, limited to in-station interaction
-The 'Oolite' client could use an extension of the 'Emoticons system' to trigger in-game actions
-This would also open the door to AI characters placed around the Oolite universe by clever coders ( Would be a great extension for .oxp's )
