Curiouser and curiouser....

Thanks for the help. With the beacon on the target ship appeared. I then played with the beacon removed. The target appeared and this time 2 of the minders ran away, the two others AND the mark attacked me.

I am now CR5000 -10% richer and looking forward to the next mission.

Thanks again.

I suspect he was there all along, but you just missed him (as he is added by Script which hasn't been changed). There is a semi-randomness to where he appears (he is within X km of a certain point). Your next Mark should be easier to find! There is also a semi-randomness to this Mark's tactics. Somtimes he decides to stand and fight, somtimes he decides to leg it for the saftey of the Station. I had to give the Minders and Mark the same AI (to keep the pack together), but each ship makes its own "descion" as to whether to fight or flee when he spots a ship marked with the dreaded Red Hand! One of the tricks of the trade a Novice Assassin needs to master is keeping his eye on the prize!

Nova device?

The Nova Device? (Bomb : 20 - Dark Star Ref. )

20 seconds (but you really need to get out of dodge once Inno Soin bites the dust! - hint)

Is it ok to just witchspace out?

Duelling Inno Soin on a ship which has no E-bomb, only one pylon weapon (already used to get rid of his system), 4 energy banks, no shield enhancements and only forward laser is tricky ;-)

And it rolls damn slowly.. I fly Kukri MkII..

Yes! You are an assassin! Morality is irrelevant! SO what if he destroys a system of innocents! You ain't being paid to save them! Save your Skin!

Playtested Assassins in a Cobra III! So it should be doable in a reasonable ship, but you are assumed to be fairly well kitted out!

Can just jump out once you've killed him!

That was relatively easy, since Mega Ferdelance is faster than Mega Mambas and is likely to survive Q-bombing. But looks like

a) the bomb does not explode if i leave the system - why?
b) it does when it gets destroyed - is it ok? Why cannot i laser it?

So there is just no way to disarm the bomb?

In theroy you could laser it, but the expanding sun would reach and destroy your ship before you could destroy the Device. It is also very small, so difficult to hit. It not an exposive rather somthing that is making the sun go nova. (in some techno-bable way!). Basicaly you cannot disarm it in time and need to jump out.

Oddly (this seems to be hard-wired into Oolite). Even if a system is destroyed with its sun going Nova. Everything is back to noramal should you return there! So the device does destroy the system even if you leave it, but Oolite resets the system to normal if you return there.

it is what happened to star gone nova in the nova mission and it remains nova forever.

Thats odd. I think when I did the Nova mission the star came back to life. I haven't added this code to Assassins though, so the System will not be destroyed permenatly. Part of the problem is that I don't know where you will be when you meet Inno Soin, so I a cannot specify a particular planet to be removed, by the sun going nova.

No, it's quite interesting and spectacular expirience to visit nova system. If you have heat shields it is quite safe if you have enough fuel to withjump out immediately.

No cargo space? So it is possible to continue with my old dragster ship?
I wonder if there is a moment when i am forced to change it to something that can scoop cargo..

I had a mission ship in a gone_nova system. He hyperspaced out, and I followed him via the wormhole. So it could work out anyway (disclaimer, I haven't gone further than the early assassins missions).
