The question of multi-docking bays is a current limitation in the trunk code, there's no simple way to work around it. I do have one or two thoughts on how it could be done, but I also recall some discussion in the past that multiple docking bays might be something in a future version of trunk (but I've not seen that discussion continue for a while now).

It could be done by using a frame callback to keep a second ghost entity in position within the secondary dock of the Battlestar, and if the player ship gets close to it then it script-docks them to the main ship. That would work in theory, but the downside is that only the player would use it (all NPCs would still aim for the true dock in the model). Launching would similarly be always from the true main dock, but again that can be worked around by moving post-launch via script.

The question would be whether it's worth doing it all rather than just having a non-functional dummy dock and just using the normal single dock mechanism for the moment.

Thanks for the update Thargoid.

Perhaps this is the way to go for the time being. After all to get a decent quality model produced, textured, the scripting written and possibly a new AI and shaders etc will take some time to complete and test.

Once the twin docking issue is resolved at some future stage this can then be retrospectively added to an updated version of the OXP.

I may have a tinker in Wings 3D in the near future and have a go at modelling a Battlestar (I need a short change from the texturing anyway).

Does anyone know where we are with progress on the design of a Battlestar ? I have read a lot of correspondence suggesting people are working on this in the background but have not seen anything released.
In that pack i uploaded there's one in there. It's not the circular one from the original series but the triangular shaped one from the new series. Bear in mind i have no idea how to covert these to Oolite which is why they are in 3DS format for easy conversion. Complete with textures.

Btw, got a load of different Viper designs i used in another game, i'll post pictures if anyone is interested, can even convert to OBJ or 3DS format if desired. Got a nice Cylon tanker as well.

Gibbon - I'll have a look and see if I can find the pack you uploaded.

I'd be very interested in seeing the pictures of the various Vipers you have and also the Cylon Tanker (It would be interesting to incorporate the tanker in to the game with perhaps a large blast radius if attacked after all it is supposed to be full of fuel - similar to the Star Jelly)

We could even provide it with an escort of Cylon Fighters (I have a working Cylon Raider Mark 1 from the 1978 film – See page 1 of the New ships under development thread in the Expansion Pack forum and the screenshots below).

I have been thinking of modelling the Cylon tanker from the pilot of BSG for a while so if there is already a model available that would be great.

Also any .obj files for various models that you have available would be very useful.

The texturing of the Cylon Raider Mark 1 I mentioned above needs a little work to get it fully up to scratch and i will need to tweak the shipdata.plist a little but it does look reasonably good in game as it is – see screenshots below: -

CaptKev - I am relatively new to the Oolite forum however I too have a keen interest in BSG, amongst many other things to be honest), and have recently released an oxp for the Colonial Viper Mark 1.

I have read through the various BSG posts and was wondering if you, or anyone else, are still working on this project.

If so I may be able to offer some help if anyone is interested.
shipbuilder - If you're interested? You can download the BSG project here, feel free to to use anything that you may find useful.

Anyone has images from this thread, yep old but not obsolete just like the original, I would like to see the attempts made for the Galactica by oolite builders.

Or any (wip)models
