Re: Eagle transporter [WIP] and Mulga MkII
awesome cbr. thanks for resurrecting this model.
the pods look a bit "over inflated" lol..
as for the engines, i was never really happy with the texture , i was experimenting with trying to make them look "burned" ie used and overheated.... should have kept to the original texture.
i have uploaded a lot of pictures and research material about the Eagle transporter to the box link. there are a couple of paper models in pdf form there too......

Re: Eagle transporter [WIP] and Mulga MkII
Very nice!
Let's talk about the ship parameters. I think the size is similar with most escort ships, probably fit into the small side pads of [wiki]Escort Deck[/wiki] which is limited to 15m height, 39m width and 65m length. So I imagine it as a fast ship (400) with 30TC cargo and 3 energy banks.
The long shape is ideal for speed and more internal space in small front area but the drawback is the lower pitch and yaw rates, imho 0.9. Roll is good (3).
I think only a single missile fit into this ship. Side laser mounts surely not exists but this length allow an aft mount which is rare in escorts, making this ship worthwile for traders.
I guess the price is 200.000Cr, as an alternative of Python when the player want a ship after Cobra3 with better speed and smaller front and aft(!) to-hit area instead of more cargo.
I suggest a cheaper escort variant also without the cargo box (0TC) and forward laser only but higher turn rates (1.2) and speed (450).

i envisioned this as a 75t ship to fill in what i thought of as a gap between the Cobra and Python. i thought i had sized it in that category but as cbr is finishing it he can make it any size he wishes.

Re: Eagle transporter [WIP] and Mulga MkII
Thanks, now I looked into and it is longer (100m) than I guessed so 75t cargo will be good to fill the gap you mentioned.spud42 wrote:I have also put them into the first post of this thread.
With this length I think the aft laser could be on the escort variant also.
Re: Eagle transporter [WIP] and Mulga MkII
basic specs for low cost type
75t, no optional cargospace
1 gunslot fore ( to keep price low )
2 missiles
speed 0.370 LM
medium energy
medium recharge
can't really sell this for less than 240000
what you get is an very fast trader with reasonable tonnage ( and plenty of update able equipment )

@spud42
It looks like you used some of the texture from that papercraft model, i wonder if you can use those royalty free ?

Ok. How about an escort variant without the big cargobox but more speed and pitch for 200kCr?cbr wrote:fast trader with reasonable tonnage

Re: Eagle transporter [WIP] and Mulga MkII
i thought i had asked permission but i cant find anything.
I have left him a message on his deviant art page asking permission to use the art work. as far as i can see there is nothing about licensing or usage terms on his page. quite a few people have built it apparently. Lets hope he agrees.
on a slight tangent the dimensions of his model were different to a lot of the "blueprints"published online. i had to stretch the length and thin its s bit. and i simplified the engines a lot so they look nothing like the real ones..

forward laser and 2 missiles is true to the original... the laser when fitted was a turret but aint no way I'm modelling that!! lolcbr wrote:basic specs for low cost type

Re: Eagle transporter [WIP] and Mulga MkII
Itś already a fast bugger ingame at 0.37
compare here : http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Fastes ... ly_0.37_LM
About size... it really all depends on the angle your looking at, compared to the two models below it fits just fine
The original engines do look somewhat more organic shaped but when combined with exhausts who can tell
