There's still a big difference between, say, keeping a book cover uncreased, and spending $20,000 on a piece of plastic and chips. Spending a few quid to buy yourself something you really want, even if it has no practical use whatsoever: fine. Spraying someone's annual income up the wall to own a functionless piece of plastic: dumb. It's more a question of scale than anything. It's like eating a whole packet of chocolate biscuits in one evening: fine, now and then. Not a problem. Horsing through a truckload of them: mm-hmm ...
