I recall the discussion and also agreeing with McLane (albeit there was some split about whether it should be cargopod or cargoPod if I remember correctly).
Also my copy of C&W (v1.6.5) does have cargopod roles? The first few from the shipdata.plist are:
From a count, there are 22 instances of "cargopod" in the file overall?
Yes, most pods have a "cargopod" role, but not those with scripted cargo. And also some ships that spawn special cargo will probably have no "cargopod" role to prevent other ships from spawning these pods. (take for example the special pod that awards the cloaking devise).
Better would be to use the isCargo property of ships. That should include them all, no matter which role is used. And probably exclude the ones with an isPiloted property to avoid pulling in the escape pods.
It was the escape pods and some other items with scanclass cargo that aren't actually cargo which I wanted to avoid. The scan already uses isCargo, but it additionally limits things down using the cargopod role too.
But in any case it covers most of what it is supposed to, and the exceptions are little enough I think at least for the moment. And I purposely didn't want it to include the cloak pod, so as not to change the feel of that mission.
Thargoid has done it again! I love the Cargo Shepherd. I prefer stealing cargo from pirates more so than buying it, so it comes in handy quite often. I assume though, having forgotten what the ReadMe said, that if I activate the shepherd and subsequently leave the system it will not be there when I return.
I just updated this OXP to 1.01, to widen the amount of pods that it will capture. Should deal with C&W ones now, although still not rocks/boulders/splinters or anything else like that.

I dropped the Cargo Shepherd, arrived and docked at the space station, sold most what was in my hold and headed out toward the Shepherd. As I was making my way to it, the beacon on the compass vanished! Latest log provided no clue. I did notice the number of system entities was the highest I had ever seen - about 125 give or take. So I am wondering if there is a limit to the number of entities and could that be the cause for my vanishing Cargo Shepherd?
