Commander McLane, DGill,

I suck at combat, so I did not notice any difference in the AI. When I said that combat was jerky, I meant that my frame rate often dropped to 14 or 15 (I think), at least, in 1.75. It wasn't as bad in 1.74.2, once I removed all my ship oxps.
I don't know about the Intel 945GM capabilities but I believe Oolite 1.75 changed js to a new faster version that should improve oxp execution though no idea whether it affected OpenGL performance.

I can't say I've personally noticed any change in performance over 1.74.2 but I do like the new NPC combat ability [although better still imho if the NPC has a rear weapon].

Measures could be different on different hardware, but I can't see a real difference in fps rate on my computer. I tested it several times by launching both Oolite versions simultaneously, side by side. Both loading the same save game, so I ended up in the same system and using the same oxp set. Even the computer background tasks were identical.

I see of course a significant FPS drop when launching the second Oolite copy, but as long as the entity count in both systems is similar, I get similar frame rates for both running Oolite versions. It doesn't even have an influence which window is in front. :P

Yes, in 1.75 the rear weapons are much more effectively used by npc. (When they have it)

Oops, my bad! After rebooting my laptop (running on Vista), Oolite 1.75 played quite alright. I also do not see any slowdown after adding a few more equipment OXPs.

Once again, sorry for the trouble.

Rebooting so often fixes computers, satnavs, broadband routers etc, tried it on the wife once - failed completely!
