So I take it that it's impossible to reach Oresrati without OXPs (fuel collectors etc)?

It's not the getting there so much, it's the getting back out again.

Cheers,

Drew.

What drew said. The 'normal' way to reach Oresrati has nothing to do with fuel collectors or somesuch, but it is done by doing a galactic jump from one of the systems close to Oresrati's co-ordinates in Galaxy 7 (Vegeinso is the closest). This is because if you do a galactic hyperjump, you arrive in the new galaxy in the system closest to where the system you jumped from was in your old galaxy.

However, in its default behaviour, Oolite checks whether this would deliver you in an unreachable system. If yes, you are automatically moved into the closest not-disconnected system. (And by the way, Vegeinso is already part of a disconnected group of systems. I have never checked whether Oolite would allow you to jump into this group from Galaxy 6 in the first place. So Oresrati may even be not one, but two impossible jumps away from the rest of the Ooniverse.) So with this behaviour you cannot reach Oolite.

But the default behaviour can be changed through a script, delivering you in the closest system to your source co-ordinates regardless connectedness. The standard way of implementing such a (very short) script is via OXP. Insofar you're right, it's impossible to reach Oresrati without an OXP. But note that this is not because you need any kind of special equipment, but because an internal setting of Oolite has to be changed. You also could do this in a script file inside Oolite itself instead of in an OXP.

Still, even if you've set the behaviour internally, the main issue is not getting to Oresrati, but getting from Oresrati. You see, your ship can only have one galactic hyperdrive at a time. If you used it for jumping to Oresrati, you need to buy another one to get out again. And this is the real problem, because galactic hyperdrives are not for sale in Oresrati. The planet doesn't have a tech level sufficient for galactic hyperdrives...

So without some magical help from an OXP you're stuck there forever.

EDIT: corrected wrong galaxy number. Thanks, Fatleaf.

You cannot reach it with a jump from G6 (correction from G5). You have to mis-jump also to be able to reach there as well. But only once
Look it as practice. I wonder if there are any more you can reach this way...

I'm on my way there now using GH,
Note that you have to set player.ship.galacticHyperspaceBehaviour = "BEHAVIOUR_ALL_SYSTEMS_REACHABLE" in order to do that. Alternatively you could buy an Experimental Galactic Hyperdrive Modification, which is available as a one-shot device if you have finished one of the later stages of Cataclysm. It remains available from then on.

I started work on an OXP to add a mission to the lonelinest planet in OOuniverse, and nearly finished most of it. I will try to release the OXP after after Alpha test and girl friend :D tests as a Beta release.

The main idea is in which way you prefer to travel to Oresrati, you must finish this mission to get out.

The commanders who posted comments in this form will be characters in the mission.

Never mind,

My current girl friend is a minuature pinscher which I could not been able to post the picture of her successfully.

I dont think she is going to be helpfull on the girl friend tests. But I think there are many commanders with girl friends or wifes playing oolite and contributing to it.
