If we're getting into the technicalities of it then "Oolite-Mac" is incorrectly named too, since "Mac" is a company (Apple Macintosh) not an operating system.

We could rename Oolite-PC to Oolite-Microsoft but I don't quite know where that'd leave Oolite-Linux. :D

If you want to confuse everybody rename all 3 to Oolite-Intel1, Oolite-Intel2, Oolite-Intel3 (yes yes, I know x86 architecture doesn't necessarily imply Intel :P )

:D

The original point is well taken, I think it's just one of those oddities that we live with and everybody magically knows what we are talking about. :)

@Smivs: Oh btw, "hoover" is not the convention in the US where it is mostly referred to as a vacuum cleaner, and not by a brand name. This seems to be a quirk of the UK. However the US does have a similar quirk (at least one!) whereby we don't use "flasks" we use "Thermos's". In fact, if you ask for a "flask" you may well be directed to hip flasks. I think they are referred to as "flasks" in the UK, no?. The Thermos website actually calls them a "vacuum insulated bottle", seems like a bit of a mouthful to me. From this day forward we shall now universally speak of "vibs".

Ha! It might be a small world, but it seems that there is still plenty of room for regional variation. :) Just imagine how complicated this will be when there are many species spread over eight galaxies all trying to live together!
