This thread has been idle for too long, but progress is (slowly) ongoing. I have produced three versions of 'my' liner now, The Oolympic and her two sister ships the LOositania and the MOoritania. They are outwardly similar but have different colour schemes and 'Nameplates'.
The really good news is (as you may have seen elsewhere) that dertien has also offered to supply a liner. The more the merrier, as they say. :D

Is this OXP still a-goer?

I have a nice little ship (all 3-4km length of it) which might fit it quite nicely. Needs to be run through obj2dat over the weekend, and then scripted and OXP'd up and someone to give it a suitable skin-job (paging Mr Groove, Mr P. A. Groove...).

If this OXP is going to happen of course...

Yep Thargoid!

Although its a slow mover with no real deadline. This is still an active project.
EDIT to add. What we need when all ships are in is a script that randomizes all types neatly. I have now for Example the Bulk Haulers.oxp which is nice but the script in that distributes a bit to much Bulk Haulers.

OK, just to give this a little more life, I had a play last week in cooking up a new design. So here's the Emerald Class liner, with its shuttlecraft (Diamond class).

The Diamond is of course inspired by TOS Trek, and the Emerald in-game looks something like a Rolls-Royce, which was kinda the idea. Oh and to give some idea of scale, the central dock at the front (the one in the middle) is a standard docking bay (as seen on main stations etc). The dimensions are 1268.750 x 750.000 x 3293.750 - it's a big beastie!

The other 4 bays are for the shuttles, which launch when it arrives at the planet (similar AI/scripting to the HammerHead). In this case it launches anywhere between 1 and 4 shuttles at once, to speed things up a bit. And it's fully dock-able with, by manual, auto or instant.

But as you can see it's still lacking its texture. That I have neither the time nor the skill to do properly, so who's up for a bit of skinning? I'm still tweakings (escort formation is next on the list), but it's close enough to being finished that it can be packaged up and sent to the paint-shop of anyone who cares to take on the job...

Could be fun to have multiple skins for the same ship. If that's a go-er I can extend the scripting a bit and have it randomly select one from the available pool, make things more visually interesting...

that's looking sweet. when you get the normal map adding some depth effects to that it's gonna look stunning.

Back to the drawing board. Lost 2 days of texturing.
