I'd go a fiver for Mr. Bell.
The only downside of donating to somebody via paypal is paypal take a cut - send a fiver, receiver gets about £4.30. (it's a minimum cut + small percentage)

Yes Mr H the pay pal cut is a problem. Are there any alternatives though. In a nights worth of searching I found very little. I don't really have any spare bank accounts that I'd like to start up so we can do a D.B.T.(seems a bit trivial for this one venture). Any thoughts on alternatives would be welcome.
On the don't buy stuff on an old wish list thing: Absolutely 100% doubling up is NOT GOOD! I don't think a speculative e-mail asking Mr Bell to check over his Amazon listing and update it would be remiss or give the game away too much. I might dash that off tonight.

Given our geographic spread I actually don't think the PayPal cut is a problem. We could paypal ClymA with our donations and then on behalf of the Forum, he could go through Ian's wishlist buying up to the value of the donation (minus the paypal cut of course).
That way we'd have one pot of money and one source of purchasing - no chance of doubling up...

In the unlikely event that the Tom Lehrer box set gets onto the list, buy the new one, even though it ships from the states, and costs a bit more. I think it’s a Rhino special edition… they’re usually limited runs, and can be quite rare. The Remains of Tom Lehrer runs to £184 on one site I frequent… there is only one copy available there, and it’s used.
