I ought to have thought of that method - I've used it in Analysis proofs before now! Am in the process of trying to narrow it down now!

I've never used v1.73 - I've always used v1.74... This only started when I updated Ubuntu...

And the grand prize goes to adcks_behemoths_v1.2.oxp
Which was one of a number of oxps I recently installed on my last binge shortly before upgrading, so it may have started happening in those couple of days, too. (Alas, I only noticed this problem after the upgrade, so I've been turning over all the wrong stones. Damn!) I've been paying more attention to shipyards now, because of this problem, so it could quite well have happened then, and I just didn't notice... Also, I haven't actually seen these behemoths up close yet, so I wouldn't have thought to check them specifically. Anyways, the shipyard cobbys seem normal now I've removed it, and I'll now go fly about a bit and see if anything pops up. *fingers crossed*
'Tis interesting that it only happens on some ships and not others. The rest of griffs ships, the Pythons, Boas, Anacondas and such all seemed fine. Although I think I saw some blue Thargoids when they attacked the station. I can't be sure, though, I was too busy trying to blast them from afar!
Anyways, thanks for all the help, guys! The Oolite community saves the day yet again!

*sigh* I finally got around to fixing the shady_sungs shipdata.plist to sort out the problems found
here, and discovered that I get the same blue ships as I've been describing in
this thread. Or at least I do with shaders set to simple. If I turn them off 'tis fine. Except that I
like the shaders on!
Oh well, another one sent to my "to sort out/has problems" folder...
