I linked to this thread in the new
work in progress list in the Wiki. Hope that's ok.

I'd love for it to be developed... Seems a nice (and logical) addition to the Elite universe.

Not by me - at least for now - RL has eaten away at my programming time, which I try to use for Oolite dev purposes...
If anyone wants to have a go & make it into a usable thing, be my guest, I'm just a PM away!

Maybe some voice clips? If even a few folks each made a short list of a dozen or so voice recordings saying very stock/normal sort of radio things and maybe a couple of unique ones that could be sort of their "trademark" sign-offs or hails, then there'd be a bank of voice bits for use in assorted communication and background chatter type situations. With pitch shifting and etc, a few voices can be a bank of many fairly easy, as needed.
Or I suppose we can make some handwavium and think of it as digital text messages encoded and sent between ships that are then rendered into generic speech by the receiving ship's computer (which would explain the prevalence of computer synth voices in the game).

Time has flown by, and I'd still love the idea to be implemented...

Regarding threadomancy, just because we tolerate it doesn't mean we encourage it. Guys and gals, start looking at the dates of the posts you are responding to and be prepared for thread locks in case of future outrageous resurrections. It's always best to make a new thread with possibly a link to the old one if you really must bring up something that's like eight years old.

Although to be fair, this thread is only two years old, and there could be reasonable hope that the OXP was still in development.

I'm feeling adventurous and I need the functionality for my St. J. project. I'll try cracking it.
