Apocalypse adds three to 'middle-ranking' systems that normally don't get many pirates, so around one in three systems you visit will have three more pirates than usual. Armageddon does add more - five to the 'middle' systems and the witchpoint blockades at many industrial worlds. Of course if one of the added pirates comes with escorts you get them too.
So, not actually that apocalyptic. In the sense that you've left room in the market for Beyond Anarchy, Beyond Apocalypse, Beyond Armageddon, etc...?

I never said they would be tougher, I was just saying that I noticed a steep incline in the amount of pirates after installing TG2, specifically the Apocalypse level oxp to my addons.
I think that was the aim of the OXP, to give more pirates to cope for the player. :D

Er, sort of. Apocalypse is beyond Anarchy, and Armageddon is beyond Apocalypse. Beyond Armageddon? Have you tried it?
And don't forget it's not just about numbers....the higher you go in TG2 the better equipped the pirates are, and at Armageddon they are pretty much all fully Iron-Assed.

Do you start to give them naval energy units, q-bombs, and cloaks at some point?

No cloaks or Q-bombs. At Armageddon some have NEUs.....they are true Iron-Asses. :D

Sorry to necro a very old thread, but I've run into two of these in two days. Not really much of a problem, they mostly seem to be trying to stay unnoticed, but it seems very strange that it should suddenly start happening after never seeing them before in umpteen years. It seems a bit too frequent somehow. Or is it just that I happen to be somewhere (a corner of galaxy 2) that is particularly prone to this?

I'm wondering if an OXP is causing it: the ones I have installed are

Thanks - I'll see how often this comes up, maybe delete it if they seem to be becoming a daily event. Sorry for the delay replying, I've been at a games con all weekend.
