A plea about trumbles

Actually, I added the texture from aegideans trumble pod to your oxp to make them recognisable. And I played a bit with reflections for this pod. You still can scoop them as in most cases you'll be scooping first quality trumble fur. (But most is not equal to all)Arexack_Heretic wrote:IIRC my wrex.oxp also adds trumblepods... just a very small chance though, and they are recognisably trumblepods.
For a maximum view of the pods you can install the "cargowreck_showroom.oxp" from the "1.74 only" area in my signature below. (I intent to put this oxp on the wiki but did not find time yet to add it)
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions

everything else of the WIP was lost unfortunately.

@ Eric: ah, you added the texture. I've forgotten so much, merely thought I forgot about that texture too. Nice job.
I'm currently attempting to create normal maps for the other pods as well.

It depends on the Lizards in question, doesn't it?Killer Wolf wrote:maybe we should have an OXP where by if you dock at a world inhabited by (say) reptiles, you can sell all your trumbles at a pretty good price as food ~ a rare delicacy for them.
Not all Lizards are carnivores, and even a few Lizard races that are don't see much appetizing about a trumble.
And, the only thing 'rare' about trumbles is when they're less than properly cooked. They multiply too fast to be rare in any other sense of the word.

Selling trumbles would be too much like free money.
eg. Get trumble, goto reptile world, find a nice food/machinery milkrun nearby, sell trumbles when hold is full, leaving one trumble to repeat the cycle.
I could however see a way of improving the Jameson's newbee experience of them:
A mission that (after trying the escapepod method or a similar trigger) makes the trumbs a cargo to be dropped of at a world halfway across the galaxy (or even a different galaxy for that matter) for experimentation, for brunch, for purring hats or whatever. But be quick about it, there are plenty of other captains able to provide cooties.
Payment: As by design always one trumble remains, a hint on how to get rid of them once and for all and several containers filled with furs.
The effort and singular nature of these type of mission prevents it from becoming a career.
I think one mission opportunity per galaxy would be the max,
maybe resetting upon gal-jump.
Q: even if it is impossible to remove trumbles completely by script, it IS possible to reset their numbers to 1 is it not?
