Special Thanks go to Cmdr. Cheyd who managed to make this OXP compatible with future releases of System Redux while maintaining compatibility with current versions of Sys Redux (v.2.5).
Uh, System Redux is in 2.5 now? :O The wiki points me to 1.2.1 and the topic about 2.0 wasn't active since November or so...
Or was that an error?
I'll field this one. System Redux is NOT part of FP2.5. However, since both apply textures to planets, the two have to be made to "play nicely with each other". Also, I am working on SR 2.0. It's a long running project of mine, but there will be some activity posted to that thread (or a new one started) in the not too distant future. What I did for PAGroove was make his FP2.5 script "play nice-nice" with both the existing System Redux versions available by Capt. Kev (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) and my future SR2.

Make better sense?

Brilliant work.

Just something I noticed. The download says Famous Planets V2.0 and not V2.5. Although the size is much larger than v2.0, at 800 MB. So its the correct version I assume? I removed V2.0 from the add ons before placing v2.5 in, is this correct?

The F7 doesn't display anything like your screenshots, if I read correctly this is for a future update?

I just took a look at Tionisla and Lave, but couldn't tell any change from Famous Planets V2.0? Perhaps its just me?

Best Wishes.

Sorry for the confusion. The filename is 2.0 but it actually version 2.5.
The planets in galaxy 1 are still there but the new planets are in galaxy 2.

While doing that, please ensure that the texture dimensions are all 1024x512 or 2048x1024 (compability with older systems, texture dimensions need to be power of two).

One way of doing this: do a batch conversion from .png to .png, resampling to desired dimensions in the process. I did it with IrfanView (freeware image viewer): Batch Conversion - Advanced Options + Resize (resample).

Hi, thanks, thats why I cant see that great looking planet texture thats in your screen shot....I am still in Galaxy 1

Another small question.....I have tried replacing the Oolite theme tune with the FP Oolite theme tune, but get the same theme. The file size is larger on the FP Oolite Theme.ogg @ 4713 KB versus 3473KB for the original theme, but I dont hear any change? :?

Best wishes.

Did you place it in the oolite.app/Recources/Music dir and then choose to overwrite?

You should here the new tune then.

I've renamed the file name to Famous Planets 2.5. however if you unzip there will be a folder Famous Planets 2.0. I advice everyone to manually rename to Famous planets 2.5. Otherwise I have to re-upload the whole package. Sorry for the inconvenience .

Thanx ADCK for adding it to the WIKI.!

I've stumbled upon the following thing that makes Famous Planets 2.5. unnecessary large than it has to be.

If you have already downloaded the whole package then please go into the texture directory and delete the sub directory G2WIP. This was a Work in progress dir and this should free about 200 mb.

Sorry I did'nt spot this earlier. I asked Lestradae to repackage the file with all the bug-fixes and then re-upload it. So The size will be reduced.

Also did a very light version with textures 512 by 384 and then the texture directory is only 56 mb.
Expect it to be up soon.
