Check your firewall settings. I use Zone Alarm and Firefox 3.

I hit on the idea of using IE 8 which is also on my machine. I tried to access Box.net and ZA slammed down like an anvil. Alert alert Box.net is know to distribute spyware, rape your daughters and eat your dog... etc.

Would you like to continue to use Box.net.

Yes.

Went back to Firefox. Voila, it works!!!!
Fantastic it worked for me too! :D

I've recently had to stop using Norton (my subscription ran out) and installed Zone Alarm and AVG. Didn't get any warnings from ZA when using Firefox. Guess that ZA and Firefox don't really get along!

Its still a little bit iffy, but at least we know the cause.

Further to this, I just tried to download a 1.74 compatible OXP from Box.Net.

Although Firefox will now display the page, it still won't actually let me download the file. Tried using IE too, but to no avail! :( :(

Norton Safe Web states that box.net is safe, but the community's verdict is 'suspicious or annoying'.
You've got to laugh at that.

Tried switching off ZA?

Just managed to download the new Armoury OXP from Box.net. How I did it was to disable the Zone Alarm toolbar in Firefox. I had to restart Firefox before it would work.

I've just been trying to upload some files to box net, it was a bit of a pain - i had to use their java 'drag and drop' applet in the end, the usual method of just clicking the 'add files' button and browsing to it on the computer would just crash my browser, tried it with chrome, IE8 and firefox all of them said something about a script not responding or something.

This situation is getting ridiculous isn't it? Has anyone heard from Dizzy lately about progress with OXP Central? It's been 'offline for maintenance' for quite a while now.

I’ve been ‘talking’ to the people at box.net… they were surprisingly responsive and helpful.
They gave me a tip that, although it doesn’t help with my ‘slow’ download problem, may be of help to those who can’t download at all: they have a mirror site at boxcn.net… just slip the ‘cn’ into the url link and it works. I’d be interested to see if this works for anyone.

Box.net has been misbehaving for me again. Sometimes I've not been able to get on the site even with Zone Alarm completely disabled!

However, this solution worked:

This speak volumes that the issue is indeed a DNS/firewall problem.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it probably means that it's only a matter of time before whatever is blocking your access to box.net decides to block boxcn.net too. :(

It's definitely worth trying to still find out what's behind your box.net problems...
