It was the best way I could think of to give me a unique, named ship. It is a bit of a hack, but I didn't gain anything tangible from it. Having made a unique ship to fly I wanted to make sure I didn't see another Radio Maru for sale, or get attacked by one either. This way I still see the occasional, generic, Wolf II SE knocking about the universe. But interesting to learn that the game is already smart enough to keep the ship I'm flying off the market!Eric Walch wrote:Sort of cheating than? On the other han not as you replaced it with one of equal value.
When you look closely in your save file, you'll find an entry: "shipyard_record". It contains a list of all ships the player once bought. Those will not be offered anymore for sale, when I am right. So with a normal bought ship you won't get a doppelganger offered at all. Editing itself is a bittrickyimpossible as the system does not use the readable name but the cryptic number in front to identify your ship.
Would be a method to prevent players from editing in their own ship when double checking if the loaded ship is in that list.
How do you set the frequency of a ship appearing?

Just been having a periodic wiki-trawl (to update my cached store of pages on my USB stick) and came across this page detailing the system populator.
One I've never seen before, but would be enlightening reading for the original question on how the thing works...

That can't be right, I think. Or I understand you wrong.Eric Walch wrote:When you look closely in your save file, you'll find an entry: "shipyard_record". It contains a list of all ships the player once bought. Those will not be offered anymore for sale, when I am right.
If the player sells his original Cobra III for another ship, he is not allowed to buy another Cobra III ever again? That wouldn't make sense to me.

It identifies individual ships, so when the shipyard is rerolled the ship you bought doesn’t appear again.Commander McLane wrote:That can't be right, I think. Or I understand you wrong.
