In order...

Puff Adder - from the snake.

Lasers - they're there - killed a viper with them I did :-) But I don't see the beam, only the flash where it hits.

Oolite version 1.73

I've got screenshots, but can't see where to load them up here :-(

Can you post up the whole shipdata.plist as it currently stands? If you put it inside <code></code> tags it'll present better (except of course you need to use [ ] instead of < >).

As for sreenshots you need external hosting, and link to them with <img> </img> tags (again with the [ ] instead of < >). A good (and free) site to use is ImageShack, but there are lots of others.

I’d quite like a copy of your cache file. Unfortunately I don’t know where it lives in Windows.

In Windows, it should be found in
<OoliteInstallDir>\oolite.app\GNUstep\Library\Caches. The cache file is named Oolite-cache.plist.

Crush: Have you specified a different hud for the Puff Adder? If you just used like_ship, why are the huds different in the two shots?

Have you by any change neolite.oxp installed simultaneously. That oxp overwrites all oolites own ships and any following like_ship will make copies of that oxp. The adder in that oxp has the aft_view in the centre like your example, unlike Oolites own aft_view.

That's the main problem I have with neolites. It cripples several existing oxp's as well that use like_ship relations. I already started to avoid like_ships to oolites internal ships because a lot of people have neolite.oxp installed.
But that would be obvious as the adder would look quite different in external views. (type: V to see them)

@another_commander:

No - just checked the file and there's no "hud" specified in there. As to why it's switched huds, I don't know.

@Eric

No - neolite isn't one of the OXPs I've downloaded.

Does anyone know if under windows, I can have two oolite installations (without them interfering with each other)? I'm tempted to do a vanilla install and see how far I get with like_ship.

And I know that I could go for re - use via cut and paste of the whole of the Adder specification, *but* I've spent years telling people (or ranting at them) that "cut and paste isn't re - use" and to use inheritance

If you want to try vanilla install, you can copy the entire Oolite folder to another location and remove the AddOns folder, or simply rename AddOns to something like AddOns_Renamed and restart the game. Oolite will not be seeing the AddOns folder and start clean. To reenable the OXPs just revert the name change.
