or perhaps, for those who have been on the forum for more than 3 weeks, know that on busy threads where multiple images can be posted in quick succession it is often useful to show to which image you're casting your praise, both for the poster and postee.

Its a bit of both. It would perhaps be better to say "nice cobra griff" rather than post the whole thing, but I can understand why people do.

I think the underlying point is interesting, that some content free posts are considered good, some are bad. I think thats radically off topic, but it is interesting.

Though some do bother to remove the image tags in the quoted posts. 8)

It is not really that bad around here, but some other places I visit, everyone quotes some multi-MB-images and things get extremely slow, or impossible at all (large gifs).
