If you use a Mac, then you can use the iTunes integration to play music.
I used to have it on in the past but not lately. Today I decided to switch it on again and it crashed Oolite when trying to toggle it between ON/OFF. Going back with older Oolites it even crashed 1.70.... 1.65 was okay with the selection. Actually not a crash but a hang.
Than I tried to launch i-Tunes by hand. I got a licence agreement to confirm first. Apparently I never launched it after my last update. After having confirmed the licence in i-Tunes, the crash with Oolite was gone. I could toggle between Music and i-Tunes integration.
No idea if this is an Oolite bug or an i-tunes bug that does not react as advertised.

Back to docking music:
I noticed the code is looking for a music file with name:
OoliteDocked.ogg in the Music folder to play after docking.
This feature is available since at least version 1.72 and works at least on my mac but I think it is a feature for all systems. This file is not present in Oolite itself but you can just add it in an oxp music folder.

Amazing! Thanks very much Frame!
I'm going to have alot of fun with this. Try it with some Vangelis. Theme from Cosmos, or Alpha. Something like those. Perfect relaxing but spacey music for docking after a rampant alien killing fest!
I won't get a chance to try it today as I have superleague darts tonight. But I will do my best for tomorrow!
Thanks again Frame.

It works brilliantly Frame. Thank you so so much. The first time I tried it I got Vangelis' Cosmos theme. And straight away I was
there.
