1. De lamentatione (The Hilliard Ensemble: Thomas Tallis)
The Hilliard Ensemble! I'm not the only one!! I discovered them on Classic FM and ran out and bought the album they did with Jan Garbarek. Good to know there are other albums out there. What's the album called that De lamentatione is from?
It's simply called "Thomas Tallis" and contains the Lamentations, the Mass for Four Voices, and a couple of Cantiones Sacrae.

The Hilliards were at their peak in the late eighties and early nineties. Myself I've got 21 albums imported into iTunes (which I nowadays use more frequently than the original CDs; some, though, are contributions to collections, like "Arbos", which also features instrumental works of Arvo Pärt), the earliest from 1983 and the latest from 2000. I also enjoyed them live some time in the middle nineties. At that point Paul Hillier had already parted from them and founded "Theatre of Voices", of whom I also have an album or two.

The Hilliards feature an impressive range of music starting from the 12th century (Perotinus) to contemporary composers (most notably Pärt), with a clear stress on English pre-classical music.

Many of their CDs are certainly no longer available. Sony Classical wanted to re-release a couple in the late nineties, but I have no idea whether these are available, too.
