I didn't think of the false expectations issue - but on the other hand, as you say, the splash-screen could be seen as an artistic intro that doesn't have to reflect ingame graphics. And with the adding of oxps, it could even come to do that, too, that's just a player decision from then on.another_commander wrote:It is a very nice picture, but for the reasons DaddyHoggy mentioned it cannot be an official splash screen Although I understand that a splash screen may not necessarily have to reflect in-game content and could be also of artistic nature, the false expectations issue is not to be overlooked. Additionally, there is a bug in 1.73.4 (which was fixed in trunk about 45 seconds ago), that allows only square splash screens for the Win/Linux builds, so if you want to replace the original one with it, it needs some tweaking of its dimensions before it can be used.
A killer screen VERY good.DeepSpace wrote:Here's a desktop theme. It features Griffs ships and feels quite epic. Just click on the pic to embiggen' (1280x960)
I appologise in advance if this is the wrong thread to post it on.
Well its Sunday and I've nothing better to do...
Enjoy.
PS. thinking about it, this would look AWESOME on a mouse mat..mmmm
I've just scaled it to 1600x1200 (to keep the aspect ratio correct) for my work laptop with a 1920x1200 screen (the black borders are useful for placing my icons without spoiling the vista!)pagroove wrote:A killer screen VERY good.DeepSpace wrote:Here's a desktop theme. Just had a little play on cafepress.co.uk - £18 will get you a uniquely designed T-shirt...DeepSpace wrote:Nice one DH. I might defo get a mug or mouse mat with one of these images on it
I got a mug done once cost about £8 but it was really well done, I think the same place do mats, t-shirts, hat etc... ha ha
Yeah, that's the problem with uploading huge wallpaper images to your webspace then linking them to a forum - everytime someone loads up a page, your bandwidth trickles away... Especially is everyone quotes the original picture...Commander McLane wrote:I'd like to see DeepSpace's pictures, but they're all Error 404: page not available.
